    Mother= Gold
    Power To the People= Trash

That's my Lennon philosophy, if you can even call it that.

Genius - just like, for example, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in his times, John was the most talented songwriter of 20th century - for me.

Haha, this is quite possibly one of the more ignorant posts I've read in the Music forums...

    Imagine
    Imagine there's no heaven,
    It's easy if you try,
    No hell below us,
    Above us only sky,
    Imagine all the people
    living for today...

    Imagine there's no countries,
    It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
    No religion too,
    Imagine all the people
    living life in peace...

    Imagine no possesions,
    I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
    A brotherhood of man,
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Lennon is the greatest gem that walked the earth.
I think that one day we will be studing him in our philosophy classes.
I would be honoured to teach kids about him.
    What a wonderful man!

Lennon’s 21st birthday party was “a huge drunken noisy orgy” (Davies, The Beatles, p. 177)He frequently flew into rages, screaming, smashing things, hitting people. He admitted, “I was a hitter. I couldn’t express myself and I hit. I fought men and I beat women” (Giuliano, Lennon in America, p. 20). On one adulterous weekend fling with his secretary, May Pang, Lennon “accused her of cheating on him, and flew into a rage, trashing the room and trampling her eyeglasses” (Giuliano, p. 16). Lennon admitted: “I was a very jealous, possessive guy. A very insecure male. A guy who wants to put his woman in a little box and only bring her out when he feels like playing with her” (Ibid.). When the owner of a nightclub said something that upset Lennon, he “beat the poor man mercilessly” (Giuliano, p. 8). At a party in California in 1973, Lennon “went berserk, hurling a chair out the window, smashing mirrors, heaving a TV against the wall, and screaming nonsense about film director Roman Polanski being to blame” (Giuliano, p. 57).

Seriously. Not saying he didn't have some nice songs and some ok ideas, but really, why are you worshiping him?

because man... all artists are just shown as good people who make awesome music... but they forget to show those kind of things like you said... apparently Jim Morrisson was a pretty big dumbass when he wasnt touring and such. There are many things left unknown to satisfy the public.

But i agree, he gets maybe a little too much worshiping. sure he did good music, but do we really know him?

and Jerry was a junkie. So? Everyone's flawed but that doesn't take away their moments of amazing spirituality and what they could accomplish.

Hell, at least Lennon was honest about his flaws. I think that's what I dig most about him. He was so friggin' honest in all his songs.

ps: those quotes were AFTER he quit being a junkie himself, making amends.

Yoko didn't destroy Lennon... he was well on his way down when he met her. I've been reading A LOT about Lennon's life and he wasn't all that. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I love his music and his activism; but aside from that he wasn't a very nice guy.

I'm not here to put down a legend, just telling it like it is. And again, I love his music and activism.

agreed. he was an angry man and he took it out on the people who loved him. Love him as an artist but wouldn't love him as his wife.

He was one of the Beatles, and I think that the Beatles made a huge impact on the history of music. They got rock and roll going again when it was going downhill. He thought of some good chord progresssions too.
