Hello. My name is Squirrel. I just stumbled across this forum while on a search for the Flower Children. I'm looking for others who share my mindset. I am a bit strange in my midwest blue-collar community. When asked what my life's goal was, I said that I wanted to live in a van in the forest. I want the freedom that comes from mobility, and I NEED to be where I can see the sun in the trees every day. My parents (Thank the Goddess that I no longer live with them, though I love them dearly.) were shocked. I get depressed that we live in a culture that celebrates spending thousands or more on a standard of living that kills us. McDonalds will kill you. Offices cage you. Televisions sedate you. Video games. . . shoot me now. I enjoy movies, I'll admit. They're almost as good as *Gasp* books. Even then, I prefer to watch the embers of a dying campfire, or to spend a hot afternoon sitting in a big tree with a crochet hook and yarn. I want a garden. Not one full of only flowers, although I like those, too. I want to grow my food. To know that what is filling my stomach is what I planted in the Earth. That it is good. Apples will not kill you. Hand calluses from good, solid working will not kill you. Sorry for the rant. I'm frustrated. I'm sure that many here have had the same rant, but. . . aaaaaarrrrrgh!!!!! I feel a little better now.

Hello Squirrel, Just call be Bull, Welcone! I am from South Missouri, Mansfield to be precise! Although I am a native Texan, I love the Ozarks! One question, have you ever had a Gooberburger? I want to try one so bad! The only time I was was in Sedalia was in 1994, and the burger place was closed! Rant all you like I will listen! I love home canning, even though I don't do it myself! I am just not a good cook! LOL
I know the place you mean, but I haven't had the nerve to try one yet. Somehow the thought of a peanut butter hamburger scares me.
I'm sure you'll find some similair minds here. It has been my dream to have a van in the woods a while ago aswell and I think we're certainly not hte only ones with that idea. Enjoy the forums.
Know what you mean I lived in the Gulf of Mexico on a sailboat Lived in the Rocky Mountains in a tent spent time traveling on the road out west . Ready to do it again wanna go lol
