Initially I thought about going alone, but giving it a second thought I thought I'd be safer, and more beneficial to go with someone else. After talking with my best friend, she mentioned she would be interested in going as well. I was just wondering if anyone has done this, and what your experiences were like. We'd probably visit more of the main citys seeing as this is our first time..Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, etc. What we were thinking was going for 10 days or so, one week simply isn't enough and with college in the fall and other traveling, 2 weeks is too much. I want to do it the hostel way, stay in hostels and take trains from place to place, living out of a backpack with only a few shirts and such. We also need to do this cheap which I know is hard but the cheaper the better. What is the usual total this comes out as for most people? What are the average plane tickets, hostel stays, and about how much 'extra' to have on us for meals, etc.? I would appreciate any advice, sites, experiences or help anyone could give me. Planning this is going to be crazy if we decide to do it and I wanted to make sure I have everything together. Thanks
I suggest less place to visit, or more time. You wont see any of them really well within just 10 days. And i dont know how cheap you can get if you plan to do everything by plane. Distances like Amsterdam - Paris are good for taking the train i think. Ive never done the hostel thing before (actually my first hostel experience will be in April, when im going to London ) so i cant really help you with that anyway.
Hostels are fine and cheap (hotels are fucking expensive) and you'll meet lots of other backpackers so it makes it more interesting. To be honest unless you wanna spend most of your time on buses, trains, planes etc, I'd only bother with 2/3 cities in 10 days. You could do Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin in 10 days because they are close enough together and you could get the train. To try cover any more than that is just to much. If it was me personally and I had 10 days I'd only visit one of them. Then again it depends whether your going for just the sights, or nightlife aswell. Bon voyage!
I'm sure you can fly for as cheap as the train anyway. Still 10 hours is nothing on a train and you get to see the whole countryside. My longest on a train was 31 hours!
you can get an interrail ticket for fairly cheap which can take you anywhere in europe (depending on how much you are willing to spend on it (£385-1 month)). 10 days isnt relly long enough to appreciate the palces.
why hurry take your time 2 weeks in one city at least in a month you might actualy learn to know someplace last year i did the mistake of having to little time it's much nicer to live littler cheaper and stay for a long time
