The Dimwit Dubya was elected because not enough folks voted against him. Protesting is fine but make your voice heard during elections by voting against morons like Bush.
That's bullshit, El hefe, and you of all ppl should know better than that. The reason Bush "won" the so-called election is because it was fixed that way to begin with. With the way things are politically in Amerika, it doesn't matter how many voters turn out to the polls, or what their actual votes are for, because everything is rigged to go a certain way in each case.
1) Voting doesn't hurt. 2) Even if presidential elections are rigged, local elections are not. Who's on your city council is as important as who is in the White House. (You know that dangerous intersection, the one by the school. Wether a stop sign, a stop light or nothing goes in there is LOCAL.) 3) Trin is wrong, the elections are not rigged (yet, down with Dibold etc.) Most election officials at all levels work hard to make sure that the votes are counted accuratly. 4) Please think before voting. "It doesn't matter who your vote for." is nonsence. Who you vote for is what all the fuss is about. If you aren't sure who to vote for, don't vote. If you are sure, vote for your candidate, even if everyone thinks you're nuts.
I wish that all of us would turn out and vote in the 2006 election. I would also advise voting against all incumbent officeholders. If enough people did this perhaps, we could send a message to the power structure that we are fed up with the whole lot of them. No matter which party they stand for not one of them stands for you.
Can you please verify this? There are numerous signs indicating that what Trin says is in fact accurate.
elections aren't rigged. Certain candidates have unfair advantages, but if people would just turn out and vote, they'd far outweigh the advantages.
Talk to your local voter people. Talk to the poll workers. Talk to the county registar of voters. Contact your Secretary of State. Georgia, Florida, and a few other states were notable because their state level election officials were clearly partisans in the election. (It looks cheesy for the state election chairman to also be in charge of the vote counting.) The cheesyness I mentioned was news because it is rare. Even in Florida, voting officials pulled their certification after the quick hacking of Dibold machines. If you can prove that most elections are rigged, maybe its time we did what Adams, Payne, and Washington did when their voices were not heard. Or do you have a better suggestion?
Voting turnout have been low, and dropping. http://www.prcdc.org/summaries/voting/voting.html If more folks voted in florida and other states who did not wish to see Bush II in power, we would not have him now. So shutup and vote. Bush is here more people voted for him.
What ever. The folks in Florida esp. here in the capital tried so hard to participate in the free election process but to no avail. To say not enough Floridains voted is a crock. In fact we are still wondering WTF happened since Bush really didn't win our state. The individual vote does not count any way in presidential elections and all of the representitives in the electoral college are tainted by the political nepatism that has taken place with in our state. Bush sucks as president, the other one sucks as govener and their are no good alternatives comming up in 2008 so what now?
Why do you care so much about 2008 when 2006 is coming first? Find a good candidate and talk them into running. If you can't find someone else, run yourself. Democracy is not a spectator sport.
Honestly, we are being set up for rigged voting, with the use of diebold, etc. However, that's just a precaution. Why would anyone need to rig an election when the people are only allowed to hear from two representatives of the one party system? Kerry is a chump, just like Bush. They are two sides of the same coin. Both members of the Boot On Your Neck Party. Three officially recognized presidential candidates were arrested for trying to attend the televised debates, and the mainstream media barely mentioned it. Voting isn't rigged, not in the traditional sense, but when the media is controlled more and more efficiently, what difference does it make? When third parties are demonized by the mainstream press, and refused entry to debates, who's going to vote for them? There is a game being played, with the American people as pawns. But as long as we have Michael and Janet and OJ and Paris Hilton to occupy our attention, the people won't notice. Just keep watching American Idol and Survivor, while our rights are denied us at an ever increasing rate, and our lives serve the men behind the curtains....
Then don't bitch when things are going bad within our government. It's people like you who didn't vote (well, I can see you're not old enough...but this goes for anyone) and are liberal that created this Republican-ran government in the first place. If you don't accept the right to vote, you may be allowing a small group of elitists to control our government. It's bad enough as it is with 45% of the American public voting. Ihatedirtyhippies is right...if you don't vote. Don't bitch. You're part of the problem.
