I have looked through this site casually. It has been very interesting, brought back some great memories, but like most of the internet ... has a large subculture that defines the boundaries by Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll Although I grew up with all three of these things, and am about to turn 50, I think the most important thing I am looking for is my lost spirit. The Spirit that has been almost left me through years of a corporate career, raising a family and becoming an adult. I am not a rebel, survivalist, or any kind of crazy. But what I am looking to do is build an Internet community of people that have been around long enough to have seen the world, but are also seeking their lost Spirit. In 1979, I took off ragged jeans, flushed my dope, pledged my life to one woman, and got on the escaltor. And what is amazing is that the MAJORITY of people I know that did the same things are now Bush-ite Republicans that seem to have lost their spirit forever. I don't want this to happen to me.
Hey man, that is a sad story... I haven't "been around" a lot at the age of 17, but as someone who is finding their spirit as you say (and a cool way to put it as well! Yesterday a guy tols be "karma never sleeps"... I have been picking up a LOT of cool phrases lately!) I guess the best advice I could give you is how my journey started... Just start to expand your mind to new possibilities... Just because tthings are the way they are doesn't mean you have to accept them that way... That is what the whole spirit is about! Remember what Mohandas "Mahatma" Gandhi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world".
