Venom is really faux They laid the foundation for black metal but they were more some kind of punk/glam metal band themselves. Faux is fun.

Slayer are fucking amazing!! Seen them live twice. Far too difficult to pick a fave song tho, its all so good. However war ensemble does hold certain meaning for me coz my best mate got his nose broken in a pit during it at Download this year!
Slayer is one of the greatest metal bands of the 80s. They did change lyrics to Guilty of being white by Minor Threats at the end of the song. Instead of saying "guilty of being white", they say "guilty of being right". I don't think a lot of punks or hippies would like that.
I went to Download Festival this year (as always) but on the Sunday could I wake up. (might be something to do with the 3 hour game of killer football the night before). Finally after about 6 guinnesses and the first crunching guitar sound of Angel Of Death I woke up. Seen Slayer about 4 times and they are probably the ultimate live band.
Hell yeah. Never seen SLAYER live but I enjoy all that I've heard of them...but they suck now that Dave Lombardo left. Luckily, his group GRIP, INC doesn't suck at all. If you havn't heard GRIP, I strongly recommend giving them a listen! If you are into filesharing, try getting BUG JUICE SKIN TRADE STRESSCASE ENEMY MIND VINDICATE THE ANSWER And yes, guys, you are looking at my age correctly! I'm 45 and I love Slayer's stuff!
im starting too like you just by saying slayer. ive got every slayer DVD and CD including some DVD bootlegs of them Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman are carnage live !! i like Lombardo better then Paul (drummers) but both are lethal behind the kit
Dave's a good drummer, of course, but best ever? not even close. lol. Look to HellHammer, Peart, Vinnie Paul, Richard Christie, Portnoy, Bonham, ect.. for equally good, or better drummers...
