I saw Munich last night. When it got over, I wasn't even sure I had liked the movie. By the time I got home, I had decided that it may be Spielberg's best serious film. It's very subtle, with apparently bottomless depth, and it was obviously crafted with a lot of care. Great, great movie about the tragedy of Isreali-Palestinian relations.
Great movie. The movie, if one takes deep notice, has some slight anti-Bush/gov't references- when the CIA was blamed for paying/helping with one of the terrorists (Salammi) operations, and not caring what Salaami's intention was. That part may be a very small fraction of the film's long length, but it shows you that Hollywood is still liberal, and not afraid to speak their minds with short additions to new films. By the way, Fun with Dick and Jane (the new release) also has strong anti-Bush/republican views: throughout the film, Bush is parodied by Alec Baldwin and in one scene Baldwin mimics the scene in Fahrenheit 9/11 when Bush is golfing instead of answering why he is always on vacation so much during his first year of office.
I wasn't aware that this was out yet, I haven't seen any previews or anything. I really want to see this, the whole story is really interesting.
i'm probably going to go see this sometime this week. i wanted to see it the day it came out, but couldn't. and not only will i hopefully get to watch a wonderful movie, i'll get 10 extra credit points for my history class if i write a paper about it.
