Stephen Harper has toned down from the last running and intends to protect Canadian public healthcare. But I still remember the wacko from the first time around and I don't think his agenda's have gone anywhere. The liberal party?? what can I say USELESS For those who say an NDP or Green Vote is throwing your vote away well then thats a very short sited comment. Even if they don't get in this time the horizon gets brighter. I vote Green but I would not be in fetal position if the NDP got in either.
WTF is this bullshit about the CCRAPs having an "agenda"? Every time some Reform hangover says something dumbass about gays or minorities, they toss him. Every time Hedy Fry bangs on about cross burnings that didn't happen, she keeps her job. Vote Liberal and you say one thing and one thing for sure: steal our money, dude. Gut healthcare and do what the fuck you want, we will never remove you from office. Alberta and Quebec will get the hint and tell Morontario to fuck off and die and separate.
I saw somethign interesting on CBC a few weks back about how Paul Martins tlakig points are often about reducing the debt, but what he doesn't tell us is that he would misestimate the budget on purpose so that the large surplusses came again and again--which in reality just took money out of the areas where he promised half of the surplusses to go [healthcare and education and such]
I haven't made up my mind yet. I'd like to vote for the NPD (french word for NDP, but you prolly guessed it!), because they're the best party in my opinion. But at the same time, Le Bloc has more chance where I live and I don't want frulla to be my deputy again...god I hate her! Liberals are out of question, such as conservatives. Harper want to take away my right to get married, so that right-wing, hitler-like moron sure ain't getting my vote...
ah, its sad, but it looks like this will be yet another shit on America election campaign. http://www.cbc.ca/story/canadavotes2006/national/2005/12/13/wilkins-051213.html too bad more people wont get to read Ambassador wilkins remarks. I wish our politicians would remember that we are friends.
It's so moronic of people to site the scandal as a reason to vote for conservatives. You know what, it's politics. THEY'RE ALL RIPPING YOU OFF. Every single one of them of cutting corners and pocketing their little share. If for a second you think the conservatives won't be corrupt, you don't really deserve the vote. Just because the liberals got caught doesn't mean they were the first to do it. I agree you shouldn't vote for them though, cause you can't condone that kind of thing. But there are more valid issues than that.
I am going to vote NDP because I support their policies and am truly impressed by Jack Layton's leadership and convictions in this campaign. However, I live in a swing electoral disctrict to which to the Liberals won against the Conservatives by a mere 0.2% (less than 200 votes) and I would therefore consider voting Liberal if only to prevent the Conservatives from clutching onto a seat in parliament. I am most likely going to vote NDP regardless. Check out your riding and others here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_federal_election,_2006 btw, I'm new.
Anybody who votes Green for strictly environmental reasons, note that the NDP's environmental policies received better grades [than the Green Party] from both the Sierra Club and Green Peace. http://www.greenpeace.ca/e/action/election2004/reportcard.php http://www.sierraclub.ca/national/vote-canada/2004/scc-election-questionnaire.pdf
Voting conservative also opens up plenty of cans of worms: a)they aren't afraid of legislating morality (ie: reopening the legislation on gay marriage). b)they aren't afraid of opening a two-tier medical system. Of course, they wouldn't remove government health care, but this second, pay-for-service tier would leech doctors and nurses out of the public sector. c)spending ridiculous amounts of money on the military protecting our "sovereignty" in the arctic, while at the same time signing it away through NAFTA. Many other issues would be poorly decided by the conservatives, including relations with the US, water-rights, etc. The best thing you can do is check the history of your riding. If it was split mainly between Conservatives and Liberals in the last election, vote Liberal. If it was split between Conservatives and the NDP (ie: much of BC), vote NDP. If it is open, vote NDP. This will be the best way to ensure that there will be another Liberal minority government, w/ the NDP holding the balance of power.
I will vote NDP or Green. Canada needs a change...a change for the better. Why I (and others) shouldn't vote Conservative. Steven Harper is the Canadian George Bush. Vote conservative and destroy this beautiful country as like the USA. Vote conservative and give up what freedom you got. Religion has no place in politics...
anyone else have nightmares back when Stockwell Day was around? That guy honestly made me crap my pants out of fear... and made me want to start beating the "religious right" upside the head for falling for his crap.
Pre or Post-Makeover Stockwell Day? Because he looked like a giant bug before... I was 12. It made me laugh so hard.
I personally am voting Green but only because I don't like "the other guys" I actaully sat down and read all the sites for the 15 registered federal parties and the Liberals, Conservatives and NDP's seem to only want to prove just how horrible the others are. I don't want better by comparison I just want better. So my theory is I'll vote green because they get the next largest amount of votes. The idea being that they'll disagree with whoever gets in and just make things harder for "them". I don't expect them to win but I do expect them to be politicians.
Who remembers anything about the Rhinoceros Party. I was only six when they finally disbanded but I remeber hearing about them. Damn. I'd vote for them. The aboslute best things I've ever heard about them is their declaring war on Belguim because a Belgian cartoon character, killed a rhinoceros. But they promised to call off the war if Belguim brought them mussels and a case of beer to their hedquarters in Montreal. The great thing was, the Belgian Embassy in Ottawa did it. Oh and Ted Sharps promise to not have an abortion if elected. Man, do politics suck nowadays or what?
The NDP has some great ideas and reforms according to this http://www.ctv.ca/mini/election2006/static/issues/index.html
its hard to say, if harper wasnt a moron, then maybe conservative. but most likley NDP, they're platform seems to have to most worth to someone of my age.
deffinatly NDP, my riding is between the liberals and conservatives but i think the conservatives are gonna win it anyways, so i migth as well give my 1.25 to next years NDP campaign.
