Did anyone get to see the game last night? I actually wound up going to an OHL game in Sarnia and didn't get to see the whole thing. But during the breaks in play we were kept up to date on the score. I honestly didn't know that the people in that arena could cheer so loud each time that score came up on-screen.

I was going for Russia, although I couldn't see it even if I wanted to. Seems strange for people, you excluded because you are the age group, for a country to boo US 16 year olds every time they touch the puck and franky, to get into a junior competition this much, but what do I know...

I beg your pardon, but I have no idea what you meant by the last bit of your post. It could just be that I'm not understanding you correctly, but the following is in response to what I got out of your post.

I am not an ignorant fan that boos for "the other team" just because they're winning. Even if the team I was rooting for loses, I'll still stand up and applaud the winners. If they won it fair and square, then they deserved it and I'll pay them the respect they are due.

Hockey (and any other sport for that matter) isn't just a one-sided thing. It takes dedication, time, effort and practice to get anywhere in it. Whether it's a group of kids playing or someone in the major leagues, they're doing the best they can in a sport they love. That, more than winning or losing, is something that deserves recognition.

Damn, forgive me for being a mere fifteen year old fan of Team Canada.

you are taking me completely wrong. They are kids doing the best they can, but the reports I heard were of rabid fans booing the us kids through every game. thats my point exactly.

No offense, I just find it odd how much people in Canada seemed to get into this tournament, and how seriously they took it, its truly foreign to me, these aren't professional athletes. Its odd to me that it attracted as much attention as it did. I'm a huge hockey fan so i follow several canadian sports networks...look at the tsn message boards, maybe you will see what I mean.

I meant no insult to you personally.

No insult taken. :) Thank you for clearing that up.

And I can understand what you mean. During the game I went to earlier tonight, there were actually home-team fans in the audience booing and holding up signs that said "Go home," "Boo!" I was shocked. Sure, most of the people holding up these signs and yelling negative things were close to my age if not a little younger. But there were older people doing the very same things.

I really get into the game, to be honest. I'm usually right up in a front row with the team's colours on and signs of encouragement ready to go. But I feel disheartened when I see people doing things like that. It really doesn't give a good name to the rest of the fans.

alright first of all, its extremly rare to see a 16 year old in this tourny.... Sidney Crosby played at 16 only because he was considered a phenom. most kids range from 18-20. As far as them not being professional athletes, that is incorrect, especially in this tourny... the entire canadian team is already drafted into the NHL and trying to make a stronger case for themselves for when the scouts have to decide to bring them up next year.

and the reason the boo'ing started was for the elbow that the american guy threw on downy after the goal was scored in the canada/america game.

thanks for setting the record straight there M2D (though I think 19 is the age limit for the Jrs, not 20)

anyways, ya, I watched the game, excellent Canadian grit style hockey, we went in there and dominated the boards took the man on the puck out hard (some amazing hits last night eh?)and relied on solid give and take plays to get the points. Even though Downey Pogge and Stahl braught us through in last nights game this win was by far one of the most cohesive team efforts I've seen in hockey in a long time, those boys have heart.

    anyways, enough of the commentary

    peace

I watched the game. Downie and Staal rock. I heard the coach will bench players if they don't do what's best for the team out on the ice. They weren't expected to make it to the finals, and in fact, the US team was supposed to go all the way. A solid team.

I saw the Russian goal in the second period, that would have made the score 2-1. Too bad for the Russians.
