I don't know the ages of people on here...I haven't been on here in months but does anyone watch The-N? I'm just curious, I started watching DeGrassi a few months ago and I have always liked Daria.
I'm too old to be watching it but I like Degrassi too. I liked the original series too and now I watch it to see what the old characters are up to.
Cool, so like the teachers and parents were like on the original Degrassi? Sorry...I never watched the originals...I believe I was pretty young when they were on.
The original Degrassi was carried on PBS and later was on the Disney channel. The computer teacher (Mr. Simpson/Snake), the principal, Emma's mom (Spike), Craig's stepdad (Joey) and Caitlin were all on the old show. Spike had Emma when she was in the 8th grade. A lot of the story lines centered around that.
Thats cool, I know in one episode of degrassi:next generation, the parents and teachers were saying how nice it was to be back at the school but I didn't know if they really were on degrassi or if it was just part of the show.
i watch degrassi. i feel stupid, being 18 and watching a show for thirteen year olds (at least thats what i figure its for). i think the one who plays craig is hot. actually, they are all getting to be pretty good looking as they get older. i also like watching my so-called life. but thats cause i use to watch it on mtv when i was little. it was a good show.
Well I'm 18 too so youre not alone. I watch my so called life sometimes too but Angela can annoy me sometimes...I think its her indecision. Degrassi boys are hot, aren't they! lol And hey, (I believe) they are around our age anyway...
oh, good. that makes me feel a lot better. it always makes me feel sick if i find a guy attractive thats young. yeah, angela can be annoying. i like rayann. and jared leto (another hot male)
I'm 35 and way too old to be watching Degrassi. I think I got into it because it's a lot like a soap, and I can get addicted to watching soaps pretty easily.
http://www.degrassi.ca/gallery.php?id=32 http://www.degrassi.ca/gallery.php?id=48 It looks like fame and grange hill and saved by the bell ... all rolled into one.. Is it done well ???...just looks like a nasty bunch of stereoypes... Is it better than heartbreak high that was prety good. http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Satellite/2436/castmenu.htm even though the ending was crap.
In my opinion, I think this show tries to avoid the whole stereotype deal. It's pretty open-minded in a lot of ways. In order to include different & alternative lifestyles and/or cultures/sexuality/family backgrounds, race, religion, etc..etc.. on one t.v. show (especially when it's geared toward kids), it can be real difficult to not make it appear stereotypical. I think this show does a real good job in trying their best to stay away from all that. Check it out & see what you think.. The only problem that I have with it is it doesn't follow episode to episode. They jump around a lot. If something really serious happens on one episode, you often won't hear about it again till a few episodes later (or the next season). I think they could try and work on elaborating the issues a little more. But all in all, it does bring out a lot of awareness of what kids face today. I think they do a decent job with that. I mean of course there are some really stupid and predictable outcomes, but that's television in general, so no surprise there. It is a hell of a lot more diverse then the other shows that some of the kids are watching..(big example: beverly hills 90wathefk).
that was alright , but looking back at it , it was a bit 90wathefk. I might if i can...if it has a bit more going on than teenage 'angst' i will probably like it . The others that i and others have mentioned were/are a bit more 'grown up' but i am not realy looking for the meaning of life or anything
Haha, no///still a whole lot of teen angst. As for television, I try to keep it as simple and mindless as possible. I don't like having to pay too much attention to a screen. But, I do have my favorite Queer As Folk..no denying that there may be some (or a lot, depending on personal opinion) stereoype to it, but in no way simple. As far as finding the meaning of life, no..that probably won't happen through technology..but, then again, who knows nowadays of consumerism.. You'll probably just have to have to be killer rich to buy the new "meaning of life" device. Plus, they're always upgrading
I would have hoped to come to the same conclusion at my age...but still i watch all the mindless drivel that TV has to offer. I don't watch reality TV so i am learning slowly . Knowing my look when i suddenly have my moment of apithany , i will realise the meaning of life is friends+family+love+commitment ... it will be as simple as that. But all thats another story.
I love this..It's sad that so many more people don't (or can't) see it this way. I think the world has a lot of methods of blinding us to this.
The show was like crack. I used to stay up to watch Pete and Pete and Daria and some old Nickelodeon shows before they bought in, but I ended up getting hooked on Degrassi. I hate it! I used to pretend I was just passing by channels to watch it, and my dad would walk in the room and I'd switch the TV to another channel real quick. I was a closet Degrassi fan.
