I lived in San Francisco from 1985-1989. I moved to Los Angeles in '89 and have been here ever since. A trip down the coast is a wonderful experience... Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz. I absolutely love living in California and would probably only trade it for Hawaii.
pick a climate, any climate, and there's someplace in california that has it. where i grew up was along the i-80 corridor over donner summit between sacramento and reno nevada. best place i know of is arround grass valley, nevada city, and the san juan ridge. towns to avoid (used to be anyway); weed, paradise, and eurika, all of which sound deceptively inviting, and perhapse partialy because they do, don't care much for folks with long hair or smoke that wakki tebakki. colfax is just a little town up in the hills where the railroad goes through but doesn't stop anymore. my dad used to work in the depot there when he was still alive. about a decade before i was born in the late 40s there used to be a little narrow gauge railroad from the grass valley/nevada city area that made connections with the standard gauge southern pacific in colfax. that was gone but there was still plenty of 'archiological evidence' of it's having been when i was groing up there in the 50s and 60s. any rate all along in there is what i consider to be my home. down at the base of the hill in roseville is where i'm living now. =^^= .../\...
