Scary, huh? Jesus, the fellow Conservative Fundies worship was the direct opposite of them in every way. As a matter of fact, he represents what they HATE the most. Fundies worship the Apostle Paul in reality. They preach his dogmatic, exclusive, intolerant messages of long hair, proper dress, male chauvanism, married twice, churchy horseshit much more than any thing Jesus said. Oh, they do preach one thing Jesus said... HELL. They preach that alot! The only difference is that 90% of them don't understand the concept behind the term "hell" or the four words in the Bible (1 Hebrew, 3 Greek) that have been translated "hell". Hell, they don't even understand the etymology behind the ENGLISH word "hell". Nevertheless, I guarantee you...I'd bet my life's savings and everything I make from now on that the religious leaders--churches and dogmatic "Christians" of today who claim to worship the white, sheepish Jesus in medieval paintings would shit their pants if they had met the REAL Jesus. He wasn't white. He wasn't bathed all the time. He didn't wear a suit and tie. Jesus was a longhaired, bearded JEW who wore sandals (or went barefoot), drank wine, ate with "sinners", hung out with whores and the lower "scum" of society, was a vagabond, called the religious crowd "hypocrites" and "sons of the devil". He spoken in poetry (parables), he didn't concern himself with "interpretations" of rules, he practiced non-violence but he protested when he had to (the moneychangers)... like GREED...what the majority of his so-called representatives are all about today. Jesus enjoyed good company, good food, good wine, good conversation and called shit as he saw it. Jesus was a Libertine!
Yeah when I get asked my favorite question *not* "what denmonation are you" My reply is...None i'm just fowllow what jesus says
Good point Libertine. But Most Christians(especially in the bible belt south) dont want to hear that. When I go into any store(because of my long dirty hair) I get followed around, even though I would never steal anything unless I had to. Jesus didnt have a fancy chariot, or top notch clothes. He didnt care about any of that. And that is what some Christians today worry about, going to Church on sunday, seeing who puts less in the pot, then go and gossip about them and show off their new car, or talk about how their son is a straight "A" student and a good Christian, when he is probably snorting lines with the preachers kid on Saturday night.
I thought I was going to barf after reading the first post. Yep.. Christians (the bad ones) think Jesus was 'White' and rich and supercool and dont know anything about Mary Magdalene or tax collectors .. BARRRrrrrfFF. Woops.
I think the point is modern Christians, by and large, are more about the letter of the law than the spirit of the law. Jesus said some things, but the point of his preaching always seemed to me to be that if you have God in your heart, than right action will follow. It's a lot like what the Buddha said; you follow the 8-fold path to enlightenment (sort of a moral code), but once you're there you don't need moral laws, because right-ness just flows from you, you embody it. Laws are just tools. What were Jesus' commandments? Love God with all your heart, and love your neighbor like you love God. The rest was secondary. What he said to do was always coming from the spirit of goodness and love. I agree with what Libertine said about most Christians worshipping Paul, as it is his letters that give us a great deal of the dogma. We are to put nothing before God, but most Christians seem to put their dogmatic beliefs ahead of their love for God and their neighbor (especially those neighbors they don't see as being as righteous as themselves).
LoL I am very surprised ! Hey Libertine u wrote " Jesus was " The rest doesn't matter to me (even if u certainly right) Jesus was... Is it that you always recognized his existence or what?
Jesus, whether myth or real person, existed in some form. And the Jesus that "existed" was a libertine. To say Jesus "is" is to give credence to Christians' delusions of zombies, spirits and all the other horseshit that comes with it.
Acts 6:9 Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia.
Dear Libertine, I am impressed. That is one of the clearest, most insightful representations of one of my favorite human beings that I have read in quite some time. It seems to me that what really offends you is other people's religious ignorance and the way it "inspires" them to do truly stupid, destructive and even hateful things to one another and to this reality in which you and I and everyone actually lives. I am right there with you on that one. Believe it or not, it is precisely these kinds of habitually entrenched, culturally sanctioned destructive lapses of consciousness that Jesus tried to talk people out of. Someday maybe, if enough people realize this and overcome their ignorance, then maybe everyone will feel free to enjoy good company, good food, good wine, good conversation . . . you know, the good life. If it happens in our lifetime, please look me up. We'll laugh until wine shoots out of our noses. Peace and Love
Obviously. Whether in reality or just in some book. Rhett Butler existed, as well. Just not in any other form than fiction...that we know of.
Lol! there's a bit of syncrinisity. I was just going to post in another thread that just because I don't buy the testamonium flavium doesn't mean I'm denying the historocity of JC anymore than calling Gone With the Wind fiction is a denial that the civil war ever happened.
