okay, this has happened a few times to me before but most recently at my office christmas party. i'll be talking with a group of people (usually slightly drunk, but not always), and say something either sort of witty or insighful and get a couple half assed nods or smirks. then someone else (who i KNOW just heard me say it) will repeat my comment word for word and get an uproar of agreement and laughter. what the hell is that all about?! it's like they didn't even hear me, why does this happen?
grrr talk about frusterating i had this one friend that did that to me alot and we just started hanging out again i hope she doesn't still do that...
I think it has to do with the way you say it. Some people put more ooomph in the way they say stuff and it makes it more effective. The same shit happens to me
i usually just let it pass.. but sometimes i get a lil bitchy and i'll be a total smart ass not mentioning the fact that they just got off on my thought and gave no credit but i'll pump up the wit ...haha like its a frickin tire... lol im a dork ... but yea um.... *silently waiting for point to return*
yeah my best friend will take credit for my catch phrases. I forgive her tho....she has no personality of her own
Joke stealers ARE lame, but at the same time, it's a shame when a good joke goes to waste. So, if someone else is better able to get the point across, so be it.
yeah but, wouldn't they and others realize it was something that had JUST been said not even a minute earlier? i know those bitches heard me... haha this is a really stupid thing to get frustrated over. i think it's cause i'm like 15 years younger than the youngest person there, they don't take me seriously.
I have had that happen a few times, but whatever helps the person sleep at night I guess.. If they want to recycle a joke of mine or what have you, then so be it..but they usually fail at trying to make a second one...
well my friend does one worse, sometimes i'll tell him a joke and he'll either say it back to me slightly different or explain it to me... hes an idiot when he's in a giggly mood...
happens to me all the time. i don't mind, though. i know i'm funny. i just figure that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. make extended eye contact with the imitator to let them know that their "sincere" flattery didn't go unnoticed (usually you smirk at them, i think that's what it is.)
