I used to smoke pot quite a bit however I find lately that when I get high I just get paranoid and edgy. In my opinion, as you get older, people reach a 'turning point' in their cannabis use when it ceases to become enjoyable and instead provokes paranoia and 'bad trip' type symptoms. Many people who smoke cannabis report "paranoid" or "confused" feelings as a disadvantage of smoking cannabis. Another is "negative experiences" as their reason for permanently quitting cannabis. It's not clear why this happens as you get older but I used to really enjoy having a joint. Now I'm slowly seeing the light and prefer being paranoid free and content being off it. Does anybody else share my thoughts, at all.?
I enjoy it more now than 20 years ago...its my friend and I enjoy interacting with the drug. When I was young I did it to escape the shit going on at the time...now I do it for fun...I don't think it interacts badly with people just because they are getting older...much more to do with your reasons for taking it and what other things are going on in your life at the time...like if shit is going down n stuff then maybe your having a bad time of it then....
I first tried pot at 12 years old and it just gave me the giggles. But by 17 I was spending probably 90% of everyday high on pot...which of course, after so much I didnt ever get high but just needed it to take the edge off. That lasted untill last year when I was sort of forced into quitting since I had no money and also a shady connection who I didnt like dealing with. And I honestly dont enjoy it today as much as I used to. I think maybe because I hardly smoke these days (same reason) so when I do smoke the slight paranoia creeps in and I hate it. I will say though, that if I had the money to buy bud like I used to, I know I would smoke all the time and pretty soon it would be like it used to be and all.....but I guess maybe cause I'm older, I dunno, I just dont even think much about it these days. Maybe that will change when I get some money
Honestly I would have to agree with you b/c I enjoy it more now then I did when I was younger and I think my mom would say the same thing!
I haven't really felt my pot high change to bad over time so no that hasn't happened to me yet and i hope it wont
i enjoy it more now then ever just becuz wen i first started i couldnt act strate and wen i got high, i got high as fuck and would throw up once and a while
i cant see myself changing for teh worse. the paranoia you get from weed is something you can overcome by having less thigsn to care about. the onyl paranoia you should have is of being cought, and if your not carrying anything and your parents know then tehres shudnt be anyhting to be paranoid about from where i see it. i cant wait to get out lviing by myself. you dont get paranoid out of nohting, the litlte worries in teh abck of your head jsut come out, so if u get rid of them its cool. i know, i went to beach house ot get ripped and it was awesome, no worries in teh world. cept running out of food lol! if your growing old and your disliking pot, it jsut means your turning into a boring old fart and shoudl take a good look at where your going with your life. you boring old fart!
I think Nemisis was asking the "older smokers" group, not a bunch of people who have only been smoking for less than a decade. No offense to anyone, because I have been smoking steady for only about 3&1/2 years, so I can't state my opinion(on a change in the feeling when I puff) either, but compared to quite a few people, who the question was more aimed at, we are only pups.
I've always thought of the high from weed being more like a second consciousness. Or an alternative one. When you first get high, the alternative consciousness is such a new thing for you. You want to explore it, have fun with it, learn everything about it. Most people just want to live in it. If you think of it like that, then we should also clue in what happens when we experience our standard consciousness for a long time: We get bored of it. Eventually the bad things about it start to get to us, and we don't particularly enjoy it anymore. What you were talking about hasn't happened to me, because I've only been smoking for about 7 months. If you don't mind, though, do you happen to remember a lot of when you use to get high? Like, when you were first starting, you got high and you pretty much coudln't handle it, right? Everything was trippy, everything was new, and it was a sensory overload. Then, as time progressed, and you kept getting high, you got more and more used to it. Is there any specific time lines you can give of when certain novelities of the high just got a little bit oridinary and unexciting?
