i just finished listening to a funkadelic album(maggot brain), and its just amazing! i dont know why i have never really heard many people talking about them before, i really enjoy it anybody else like them? favorite songs/albums?
Funkadelic are one of my top choice bands, and have been for many years now... I think ever album up until their One Nation Under a Groove LP (in which they moved closer to morphing into the P-Funk hybrid which we know these days) is essential listening.. The guitar work of Michael Hampton, Gary Shider and in particular Mr. Eddie Hazel is just fantastic on albums such as the aforementioned Maggot Brain. I could go off more into this but i'll leave it there for now until such a time as threads like this catch on.. "Standing on the verge of gettin' it on.."
Those first three Westbound albums (S/T, Free Your Mind, Maggot Brain) are essential IMHO, my favourite is Free Your Mind and Your Ass will follow, with Maggot Brain a very close second. Pretty fond of One Nation Under a Groove also.
