    AMSTERDAM - A majority of the Amsterdam council have agreed with the introduction of a ban on cannabis shops where trouble is caused by the youths smoking it. The Mayor Job Cohen will be able to announce bans on specific areas and streets.

    maybe these stories are all just scaremongering tactics trying to get all the tourists to go to amsterdam before it sinks/coffeeshops are banned! it sends me into enough of a panic to book another trip.

    lol,
    let him ban away...
    It's safer for the youth to get it out of the shops then from the street anyway,
    but he probably didnt think of that

    cannabis is banned flat out,its more like an enforcement of smaoking weed in public will be enforced in problem areas where youths like to hang out,it will not affect any of the shops at all.

    But if there continues to be trouble in these spots, they will close the coffeeshop down. I have heard that coffeeshops in Utrecht have been threatened with closure for having to many people parking outside the places.
    In Rotterdam they are talking about reducing the number of coffeeshops from 63 to just 3

    The sort of trouble they are talking about, is passers by being spat on and shouted at
