Ive been feeling ill lately and getting pains like period pains but im not on at the moment even if i push my stomach down a little bit it hurts. has anyone had this before?or could someone help me???
assuming you're female, you may have a cyst. i get them all the time. see your gynecologist, but in the meantime, i find ibuprofen helps a bit, if you're able to take it. make sure you see the doc, though, because a cyst might get bad, or it could be somethign else altogether. but from your description, the cyst seems most common and most likely.
Yeah, it could be a cysts, my symptoms when I get an ovarian cyst are just like that (along with a few other things)... Also my friend had those same problems but it turns out she was pregnant!
Where on your stomach? If it is way down your abdomen (below the panty-line), it is probably a cyst (I have one, too...it sucks). But, if it is up a little bit more on your right side (above the panty-line) I would be worried about appendicitis, especially since you also feel ill. Feeling naseous, constipation, fever, sever pain, are all symptoms. I had it last summer, and it is nothing to play around with. If you think that is what it is, go to the ER ASAP.
its below the panty-line. thanks everyone im more worried now but im glad ive got a bit of an idea what it could be. thanks again
Ovarian cysts are actually quite common. They usually go away with your period. You might actually be ovulating, that can be quite painful too.
------------------ON-TOPIC----------------am really sorry u goin thru a painful time LullabySam, but i hope u get better soon. ------------------ON-TOPIC---------------- ------------------OFF-TOPIC---------------- no disrespect meant to anyone - gurls or guys or the others, but after having browsed around this women issues section of this forum for quite sometime now and seeing the painful moments that a woman goes thru.... i think some guys are just unaware of such painful moments of being a woman and appreciating making their female friends for whatever they are...... maybe its got to do with the lack of awareness factor and the not interested factor as well which are both siomewhat relatively the same..... and since im pretty much new around here styll.... i really enjoy reading the threads within the women issues section here cos it hels me deal with my scenario of being a lesbian with male physical charateristics... a female in a male's bosy so as to put it.... well these past few days i've really leant a lot about the stuff that every woman goes thru thanks to these forums.... and i know i have a lot more to learn abt..... and i'm gonna be stickin around a lot i guess.... thanks to all 'em women who share their thoughts and advice for the benefit of everyone else here .... Big upz to u all :sunglasse ------------------OFF-TOPIC----------------
right im gonna go to the walk in centre near were i live to find out but im also wondering if theres any sites for like online nurses or anything to do with diagnosing symtoms??? if someone knows any sites could you send me a link please???
if you just google "ovarian cysts" it should give you some sites.. you might also want to look up PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) as well.. here's a site with info on PCOS: http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pcos.htm here is a list of symptoms of PCOS.. (yeah.. i fit 7 out of the 14 symptoms.. i think i need to bring this up at my next doctors appointment )
Day Tripper. Thank you for that chart. I think I just figured out what was wrong with my mama. She had almost ALL those symptoms (except she always had regular periods. and she hasn't lost her hair.) Had a terrible time getting and staying pregnant. Only had one successful pregnancy (me, my sister was a foster child.) SHe has had a hysterectomy and still has elevated triglic and cholesterol levels, as well as continued pelvic pain. I have been learning about PCOS, as a number of these womyn have a hard time making enough breast milk. (Although about half of them do absolutely fine. We dont' know why, as the ovaries have little or nothing to do with lactation.) I didn't know all of the symptoms or signs. This is a relatively "new" diagnosis, although womyn have been suffering from it for a long time.
Yeah I have PCOS, but when I was first diagnosed many years ago, it was a little talked about thing. That list you printed DayTripper is brilliant, I never knew the skin tags thing, all the women in my family have them, I had never connected it with PCOS before though. Diagnosing it in your doctors surgery can be tricky because not every one has all of the symptoms, I have 7 of the 14 and would say I am quite a severe case. But once you are referred to a hospital all they have to do is and ultrasound usually and they can see the cysts relatively easily. It's most interesting what you say about lactation Maggie, my sister gave up feeding her third child at three weeks as she could not produce enough milk. Her first two kids she supplemented with bottles, but Rory was going to be just breast feed, and he ended up in hospital with dehydration ( he's a fine eighteen month year old now, but I was worried at the time) She refuses to believe she has PCOS although she has been diagnosed with it. I who do believe my diagnosis (!) always had loads of breast milk and had no trouble feeding my children. If you find out any info about the PCOS /lactation thing will you post a link? As she is pregnant with her fourth baby, and is saying there is no point even trying to breast feed this one. As her older hippy sister, I would like to offer some gentle encouragement
I have PCOS as well, altough mercifully it doesn't effect my ovaries as much as insulin production and the production of a few other hormones, but my doctor put me on metformin, and I can't tell you how much I've improved, and my periods are so much more regular now. if you think you may have it, please please talk to your doctor, because if you don't take care of it, it can turn into diabetes, or you can end up needing a hysterectomy. I know a girl who was diagnosed with PCOS about the same time as me (about 2 years ago) and it caused her metabolism to litteraly shut down, and she's going to need a hysterectomy by the age of 23 if not sooner now. If you do talk to your doctor and start working on it though, it's very manegable, in fact, it looks like I'm gonna get to go off the metformin soon, so definatly atleast run the tests, it's so worth it.
I havent been to the Doctor cause i had my period not the weekend gone but the weekend before and after i had finished the pains had gone and the pains havent come back yet !
