ah yes, the sound of a slight chilean/russian/northern icelandic accent hybrid mixed with the sound of near frozen throat glands rubbing up against eachother. classic
My sister and I were at Kinko's last night and we heard this young couple speaking something other than English. I've got a degree in linguistics, so whenever anyone in my family overhears some other language, Sage gets asked about it. The accent was cool, and my guess is they were speaking Romanian.
hahaha, totally man, it drives me wild too I love when native americans speak english, they speak with an almost meditative cadence and very soft tones, it's so soothing
i love irish accent!! i would have to say so far the one that makes me weak in the knees is french canadian women, lebanese and belaruse sp? ooooo sooo many
Amen! What tops my list though, is anything Latino. (I LoVe the Spanish language.) Then Canadian, English, Scottish, Irish, Russian, East Indian and Middle Eastern (there's a bunch of different ones here), and Nigerian, though I can't understand a lot of it, I still love the cadence.
Yeah. Have you noticed that just about no one on this thread has listed American accents? (Except for a few about Southern accents, which I don't get.) There's just something generally uncool about most American accents, I guess. Actually, you know what? Wisconsin is good. And the U.P. accent, donchaknow. I like to hear New Yorkers, and New Jersers but I don't think it's a particularly flattering accent.
oooh i cant stand really thick northeastern american accents...they drive me mad (sorry) I get lots of foreigners saying my accent is so cute.. (i wouldnt ever say i had an accent tho) different strokes for different folks tho eh?
Scottish accents are amazing. I think New Zealand accents adorable. Eastern European and Russian accents have a coolness to them And as much as I hate to admit it... I really am a sucker for Italian accents :&
Are you originally from Cali supermommy? I was born here in Washington but grew up in California and had some man come up to me one day at a fair wondering where I was from and where I got my accent... I thought it was strange. I've also been asked if I was Albanian, but I don't know what that's about. I don't think I've got an accent, but if I do, I'd say it's Pacific Northwestern with a touch of San Diegan (didn't live there, but my best friend did). Throw in a tendency to sometimes think in Spanish, and there you have it!
