My brother just bought a house, and he wants a leg lamp(like in X-mas Story) So I was looking on line but there like $180 bucks for the big ones. I found a tutorial on how to make one but I have no clue where to get a mannequin leg, any ideas. I might just go to the mall and ask some stores if they have any legs they want to part with,lol!! This would be the best house warming gift, who coulden't use a leg lamp!?
You could get those plaster wrappings (kind of like gauze soaked in plaster) And make a cast of your leg Like you would do a mask, then cut it carefully and put more gauze over the cut to seal it up. then you could paint it. We did that is sculpture class. Just remember to put vaseline or oil on your or whomever's leg that you cast. lol.... You can get limp kits at home depot or lowes and wire it up. get a white lampshade some neat paper and spray adhesive and cool trim and decorate the shade.
if you do your leg (if you do the cast), that will be kinda creepy when your brother feels up his lamp..
The plaster stuff you are looking for is called Mod Rock but carefull sometimes it doesnt dryt too well..... :S

if you do want to seel mannequin legs, hit the local dying in a ghetto mall that everyone is afraid to go to. ask for a manager at any store with closeout signs and tell her/him the project. Make a low offer to allow bargaining & know how battered of a leg you can live with.

We have a store here in town that sells those! ha! They are only like $50 here though. Good luck in finding a cheeper one!
yeah, yah really gotta have the fishnets and the fringes! I think the problem with making a cast tho is it won't let the light through it like the plastic hosiery legs will.
