nose piercing

what is the procedure for a nose piercing? is it painfull?

 

Not at all, unless you're a complete pussy. It stings a bit. Your eyes water a lot.

They take a needle and pop it through your nostril.

Simple enough.

They said it hurt quite a bit, but not enough to make them regret it.

I heard that they take something like a fish hook and feed it through your nose and then they have to use a special nose ring until it heals.

And yes, I am a pussy.

I don't get it. I've heard ignorance is bliss, but come on now! You've got the entire fucking internet at your disposal and people still insist on "hearing" information and taking it as fact!?

I asked about the procedure hoping that someone who had experienced it would share their comments on it. If I had wanted to see pictures of it or know the technicalities of it, I would have checked the internet......

they wipe your nose with antiseptic, dot the area they intend to puncture and stick a needle through it carefully. then the ring is inserted and you are off on your merry little way with directions on piercing care and fond memories of that HOT piercer all up in your space.........

it was the least painful of all my piercings and ive had it done 4 to 5 different times in the same spot as ive lost the ring or had to remove it a bit in the last 6 years since i first had it done. it feels like a quick pinch and yours eyes water some but i found it quite enjoyable actually....

You sit down, get the aftercare explained, talk about what side you want it pierced. Then the piercer pops some gloves on, gets out the equipment and jewllery and makes a mark on your nose, you look in the mirror, decide if you want it there or not. Once its all ok, I'm not sure what it is, but something is put just inside your nostril, really low down so you can't feel it, but its to stop the needle hitting the inside of your nose when it goes through. Then you breathe in, breathe out and the needle's through! It doesn't hurt, it feels like a little pinprick. Then the jewllery is put in and its all over. When I opened my eyes they were watering a lot, but thats it.

 

ive had it done twice. some of my friends told me it hurt like a bitch... and im TERRIFIED of needles. its one of my two phobias. But i really wanted the nose ring...

Basically i went in to it all anxious about the pain and about the needle. After all that anticipation- it really didnt hurt all that much. Have you ever pricked yourself with a sewing needle? Thats about it. It stings for a second, you may have a tiny bit of blood (i didnt the first time) your nose is a bit sore to the touch for the next few hours, then after that as long as you clean it and dont abuse it (pull at it, pick the nostril, etc) youre fine.

THe actual procedure was me going in, sitting down, my nose being whiped with sanitizer stuff, the guy making the dot where i wanted the ring, me closing my eyes and telling him not to tell me when it was going to happen, him putting a pad against my septum, a prick in my nostril, slight tearing in that eye, a slight slight scraping feel while he threaded the ring through, and then him saying 'arright hon, heres the cleaning solution' and i was done

the second time i had it done in the exact same spot, and it ends up the hole wasnt as healed as i thought, it actually hurt and bled the second time and the scar tissue that wasnt fully healed swelled up and i may have a permanent bump. its not terribly noticable when the ring is in, but when i have to get a clear plug (which i will for my job... cant keep putting that off forever) it may look weird. i know others who have had various piercings re-pierced and they havent had these problems. just my luck i guess. i have been told theres a small chance of that happening. i dont mean to scare or discourage you, i just want to be honest.


so to sum that rambling up -
i had my nose done twice , and had two very different experiences. if you want a nosering, i say go for it. i didnt think it hurt and i love the way it looks! just bring a friend whose willing to let you squeeze a hand if youre nervous!

Maybe I'm crazy, but when someone asks, "What is the procedure for a piercing?" That says to me, "How is it done?" Not, "Share your nose piercing experience with me!" Especially when you comment "I heard that they take something like a fish hook and feed it through your nose."

And from dictionary.com the definition for "procedure" is:
1. A manner of proceeding; a way of performing or effecting something: standard procedure.
2. A series of steps taken to accomplish an end: a medical procedure; evacuation procedures.
3. A set of established forms or methods for conducting the affairs of an organized body such as a business, club, or government.
4. Computer Science. A set of instructions that performs a specific task; a subroutine or function.

So, if you want someone to share their experiences with you, ask for that.

(Perhaps I'm in an exceptionally pissy mood, but seems to me like you were back pedalling about what you posted when I turned my sarcasm on.)

 

Mine hurt, but not too bad. Good thing was that it was so quick. It was definitly more painful then my tattoos.

no, i havnt gotten it done yet. I want to, but my fiance says it would make me look ugly. someday, i'll get the nerve to just go out and do it no matter what he says, but not yet. thanks for all of the great responses guys, i think i was just building the whole situation up in my head and making it seem scarier. thanks.

Its your body and if he doesnt respect what you want then he can just sit on a duck. Nobody can tell you what you can and can not do with your body. How does he know what you will look like with one? He doesnt now does he. Dont be scared it doesnt hurt. Well mine didnt hurt at all.

Maybe, depending on what the tatoo is. I dont know, I'll have to talk to him about it. Maybe we can get something done at the same time. That would be kind of romantic?!?!?! I dont know.

my boyfriend was oppossed to my nose ring as well. he said the same thing..."it looks ugly one you"

well he was the only one that thought so as i loved it and i got countless compliments on the way it looked on me. and he dealt just fine
