Homemade Vaporizer

hmm, i'll have to take that in consideration, but seeing as i vaporize by myself, i don't have to worry too much

 

Just curious, ive been wanting a vaporizer for some time, and after reading all these post i think ill wake up and make one tomorrow, i wana use a black light but im pretty sure theres got to be some kinda safety consern there. Anyone know if there is.

 

i really have no idea what a black light bulb is like inside, but i would recommend the clear ones as you can see the fine mist come off the weed... once that happens give it a shake and either try to maintain that temp (don't make it hotter, it'll burn) or simply remove the flame and chill.

if you really want the black one, check to see if there are particles and whatnot, and then make a decision. i'd just go clear

 

i just seperated the glass from the metal and i would have to say that im very pleased how this is going to turn out

 

There is paint on anything other than clear bulbs. If you breathe the smoke in from the paint, you might as well go and pop some aerosol.

 

yes, definitely go with the clear ones, much less of a hassle. and neongreen, you will not be disappointed, however, let me tell you that there is a bit of a learning curve. you'll get the hang of it, don't worry.

put a pinch of weed in your bulb, now put the breathing tube in your mouth and cover the other hole. place the flame below the weed, and once you start seeing the mist, started shaking the bulb to move the weed around so it won't burn, uncover the hole and start sucking in the mist slowly, increase the distance of the flame from the bulb. try to maintain a constant temp, don't let the mist become smoke (means you burnt it) remember to inhale it, and once your lungs are full, you could turn off the lighter (if applicable, you could be using a candle) or just keep the temp constant, and cover up the hole and let the mist accumulate until you're ready to take another hit. eventually, the weed will turn brownish-black and you can now change it.

soot will accumulate, wipe it off. Word of caution, the bulb is fucking hot, also the lighter, BE CAREFUL. of course this may seem obvious, but trust me, when you're stoned, you could be clumsy (like me, I was sitting down, and let my hand that was holding the bulb fall and the hot-ass bulb landed on my leg :S) I kept the little box thingy the bulb comes in and it makes a wonderful albeit practical little stand. oh, and once you cashed your pinch, before lighting up your next one, let the bulb cool a bit.

Although it sounds pretty easy to do, I'd fuck up horribly.

hmm, it's not that hard, you'll get the hang of it by the time you finish your first session...it's worth, if only for the different high you get

 

It also sounds really fragile because it has nothing rigid around the smaller tapered part of the bulb.

I was also just thinking that a fine-tooth hacksaw should work fine on cutting the metal off, if you're careful enough.

 

I also can't figure out how the bottle cap gets screwed on.

 

i got the metal top of with a pocket knife some plyers(i used the ones on my pocket knife) and a thumb tack, this is what i did i took the pocket knife and kind of wedged the metal outwards from the glass then i took the thumb tack and started to chip away at the bonding that holds the glass to the metal the bonding is sort of like cement but weaker only chip away at one spot once you get a big enough lip take the plyers and and slowly unwind the metal from the bonding and glass there will be two wires one that is under the cement bonding and one that conects metal and glass once it is all pealed of the metal will be conected still by the wire break the wire now you have a peace of glass that goes in and has a long rod up i acidently got that off by chiping a way the rest of the cement bonding well good luck from there peace. and 40. oz are you seriously going to smoke out of that vaporizer the thing dosent even have a carb

 

I'm a pro at making those, I've been making them for a few months. The best way to get the metal part off his to cut really close to the end of the metal part, and dont press on the metal or it will come off the glass. Tap the glass a bit to crack it, then it should break out easy. After a while it will become really easy, I've dropped mine like 10 times (it shatters every time this happens), so I need to make another now, kleenex will take the carbon off the bottom of the bulb. Careful to make sure the tubing is wide enough, if you dont have a vent the pressure inside the bulb will cause it to implode when you inhale, possibly causing glass shards to fly up into your mouth.
Bulbs with really long stems are the best, also use 100W its slightly thicker, and withstands more heat (I've had them crack from heat)

Good job on the vaporizer by the way, I use a pen to inhale from, and a straw as a vent, the tape is just to hold the top on, and I've never used glue. I use a tennisball container (the nest)
Yours looks really nice though, very stylish, oh ya it creates a Hash high, because it vaporizes only THC. If you use it correctly, and make sure the weed doesnt burn or smolder you wont burn out.
Be wary for the slap and tickle, its the best part of the vaporizer.

OH YA! Try not to use frosted bulbs, if you do, wash out all the frosting, otherwise you may be a bit... poisoned...
Bulb gets red hot, it will burn really bad, make sure no glass is in the bulb, dont inhale hard... when weed is brown and smells like wheat its done... I think thats it for tips, the frosted bulb part is the most important.

mine is rigid like a rock. just cut off the top-most part of a plastic soda bottle, and secure it with plenty tape. you make the holes on the cap of the bottle. It really isn't hard at all. and it's firm like a mother, that's one of the things I liked about mine, it's as sturdy as a bitch-kitty.

 

what does that mean?

 

AH yes the slap and tickle... my friend doobie nicknamed it as such. Basically you take a hit from the vaporizer, when you exhale you will taste the vapor, when you really taste it you can feel it coming, suddenly WHAM! time comes to a stop, then speeds up again, feeling like somebody slapped you in the forehead. Thats the vapor hitting your brain in one huge rush. After this you get a tingle all over your body, and can actually see the world change, its great.
Im going to make some hash oil and vaporize that.

 

how long do you find that the weed lasts before it's cashed? I mean, so you won't have to open it and smell it, is there any other way of knowing? by visual means, taste, time?

 

Visually, just look for it to lose all the green color, when its a light brown all over its done, 1 side will usually be burnt. Jiggle it around after every hit, just to make sure you vaporize ever edge.
Usually the first 2-3 hits are the best, and it will maybe last 6, if you aren't convinced that its all used up, take it out, pull off all the dry parts until you get to the green, and drop it in a bong and smoke it.

 

lol, i usually save the weed for the initial part of my hitter. the rest I fill it up with fresh weed.

so, how do you clean your bulb? do you even clean it? i'm thinking water and finding something to scrape the inside with....and if it seems that it's getting to resiny, then I just may make another.... but that would suck

 

Well I havent had to clean it yet, I keep dropping the fucking thing after I burn myself, when your passing it around outside this happens a lot.
But the best thing I think would be to grab some 99% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol, and just pour some inside the bulb, swish it around, let it sit a bit, it will grab all the resin, and if I were you, id then pour that liquid isopropyl into a pan and let it evaporate, leaving the resin behind (remember to rinse your bulb after you do this, isopropyl is toxic but evaporates quickly)
Anyway when you evaporate it, you will basically end up with hash oil, maybe only a small amount though.
Theres a recipe for hash im going to try on www.erowid.org it involves grinding up some weed, and soaking it for a while in isopropyl, then evaporating it to end up with hash oil.
Man if that works, the vaporizers just got 10fold more awesome.

 

i'm going to try that, but I think I'll let more resin develop....I use my vap in my closet, and there is carpet, so I don't think it'll break soon.... tell me how that goes for you though, that would be awesome
