a friend told me that she knows a guy who says that by putting oven cleaner over a tat and letting it sit for a while, you can totally remove the tat. he appharently showed her a spot on his body where he used to have a tatoo and there was no trace of ink left at all. im not inclined to believe this but has anyone ever heard this before?

I'm sure theres a reason they warn you to not get it in contact with your skin. I wouldn't think anyone is daft enough to try that.

That stuff can take paint off cars! I wouldn't put it on my skin!
Laser removal is the only thing I've heard of.

Uh.. that's complete and total bullshit. Even the lasers used for tattoo removal don't really "remove" them perfectly. Usually it just breaks up the ink so you have a faded tattoo. Alot of my friends have had this done so they can get coverups.
Of course, if you just want a tattoo removed, you'll probably end up with a scar/skin colored tattoo in the shape of your old tattoo.

So yeah, hence the reason why everyone says to think about your tattoos before you get them, because THEY'RE PERMANENT.

a butterfly. i dont want it removed as much as i want it covered up but its too big and too black to cover up. ive already looked into laser removal but right now its just too expensive for me and one of my friends has hers removed and she's very unhappy with the scar...hers was a biggie.

I don't doubt that it will remove the tattoo, but i'm sure it will leave a big ugly scar. Anyone who has seen Fight Club knows what a chemical burn looks like.
