yeah.. i had a nice laugh inside when she was explaining what they did.. and another local place which i thought was one of the best locally had never heard or seen of a surface bar either.. was quite shocking...
There's a lot of places around here (very, very good places to get piercings) and they won't do most surface piercings. I know a girl that's gotten a horizontal eyebrow (eh.. I think that's what it's called.. it's a horizontal surface piercing down by the outer corner of her eye) but won't do collarbones, wrists, or any other surface piercings, because they have such a high rejection rate.
we are going to Ancorage two days after christmas and im gonna see if my mom will take me to a piercer.
i have my wrist pierced, and it hurt like a mother fucker. It still hurts like a mother fucker, but hasn't rejected. I've had it since about, July/August i think, and i have a proper surface bar...like an inverted staple, not a curved bar. I have a really hard time taking to piercings, ive had trouble with each piercing i have except for my vertical hood, so i partially blame the soreness on that, and also on the fact that it's a difficult piercing to care for. You have to keep CONSTANT care of it, which i don't....it's hard sometimes, when you dont have someone around to help you clean it up properly. You'll learn that your wrist hits, and gets in the way of a lot of things, especially coats and sweaters. I would honestly suggest WAITING until after winter, if you're in a cold climate, because your winter coat is going to do major damage. Mine doesn't hurt so bad anymore, but when my winter coat/mittens starts rubbing up on it, it really irritates it. But man, it's one hell of a sweet piercing. The worst part about it, in my books, are the assholes who call me a freak and shit at work. I shit you not, every second person has something to say about it...to the point where it annoys even my co-workers. I try to wear long sleeves half the time, because people get so fucking nosey about it......i've even had some guy question my life and if i've gone through serious trauma that damaged my brain. It will raise a lot of questions/weird looks/comments that's for sure.
I worked in jewelery stores for ten years and have seen all the crap the braclets go thru getting caught on unexpected shit. This doesnt sound like the best of ideas because when it does get caught its gonna be your skin getting stretched and torn, not a piece of metal.
