In Need of a Hippie Sanctuary...

Hey Yall,
I was just thinking, where does the hippie-runaway, well run away to? I mean where did the Haight-Ashbury's go? Are they all commercialized now? There has to be someplace where there is an environment of peace, love and anti-establishment.
Just Wondering if anybody knows of a place...

i dont know if there is a place where there environment is peace, love and anti-establishment... u seem like u want a utopia and thats isnt possible. maybe it could be possible for a short amount of time, but not very long. i think everyone has different definitions of peace and love. u just gotta go out there and find yours. travel the world, and where you are happy, thats where u should be. people may give you places where it may seem wonderful to them, but if u go there how do u know it will be the same for you? i hope you find your place in the future. ~peace~

you certainly wouldnt find any place like that on the internet, i think... though i wonder how people in wisconsin (for example) found out about haight-ashbury back in the 60s.

 

just go to the rainbow gathering in ocala this february and you can hook up with kids going from one gathering and related event after another and find farms n places to chill at ....there used to be squats n stuff but there will be new places n stuff ....good luck and i hope to see ya in ocala and or the national rainbow in colorado july 4

 

Try the Rocky Mountains. Most off the residents there are birds and stuff, and their generally peacefull.

Hi man!I really want to go to a place where life is peaceful and where only love matters,just like you.But my biggest problem is that I can't find such a place,no matter how much I'm searching.The only thing which I manage to find is this site and i am happy for that cause i can talk with people like me.
But i hope that one day sixties will be back!!!This is a fuckin dream ofcourse,i know.Anyway if hippies from all over the world can meet in this forum maybe it's possible that we could make some kind of a great meeting for hippies from every part of the world.Don't you think that this is a great idea!
Maybe it's possible.It would be even bigger than Woodstock.I have many ideas like this in my mind but i'm not sure that i will realize them,maybe I could but ''with a little help from my friends'' like Paul from Beatles said.

these places still do exist...their just more backwoodsy and kept secret, for good reason.

 

hey man your best bet is to find some like minded people and create such a place, it's not that said places don't exist it's just that they are kept on the downlow so they aren't corrupted by the media, government etc.

 

You will find that place at main circle at any Rainbow Gathering you go to.

Floyd,Virgina is probley the closet thing to that on the east coast. I hear there is this place right out side of san fransico that a lot of the orginal hippies are and a buch of "new hippies" go.
