    arlia,
i love your paintings they are so surreal and spiritual like, they remind me of heavenly bodies and angels in a worldy realm.

    arlia,

Cool art!!! One of your art pieces looks like the style from Edvard Munch (Loton, Norway, 1863-1944), called "The Scream". Sort of surrealistic, with a watery-flow to it.

Check out another female artist who has a similar style to yours - Christa Esquitin (or Christa Brodnax). Some of her "Weird Art" is very similar to yours, but more primitive, dark and disturbing! Yours are a little more colorful and up-lifting, but Christa does has some more up-lifting art pieces. You two almost look a little alike. I said almost.

The on-line home of Texas artist Christa Esquitin (also: Christa Brodnax):
www.o-scope.com/ Plus, Christa Brodnax Esquitin (From south Lousiana):
www.esquitin.com. Mouse-click her picture to get her "Bio" and "Artist statement".
    About Christa: www.esquitin.com/about/christa.html
    Bio: www.esquitin/about/artbio.html
    Artist Statement: www.esquitin.com/about/artstat.html

Some of Christa's acrylic paintings are based upon the rain droplets slowly moving down a glass window, and then looking through to see distorted images of people, sort of watery looking. Other of her paintings are based upon the observation of "bubbles".

arlia's Artistic Statement: "im always inspired in a spiritual sense when i paint. if im not prayerful it never works!"

That's a good start to your Artist Statement! Now add to it. What are your paintings based upon? The LOVE of God? What forces cause your paint to flow upon the canvas? Spiritual, angelic, heavenly and other worldly forces? I'm just trying to give you some ideas to work with. My mother loved to paint, but with oils (mostly conventional portraits, landscapes and "stills"). So I've been around artistic types, from a quite young age.

Christa has Angel Art, Human Art, Moms & Family Art, Lovers Art, Weird Art, Nude Art, Cat Art, Dog Art, Modern Art, etc. Check out: "Weird Art" - Unusual Disturbing Artwork, Strange and disturbing Water People. There is a "Nude Art" section, but it's abstract and fuzzy nudes. Not real clear. Risque Nudes.

Check out the following individual examples of her "Weird Art": Wallflower, Jasper, Daydreams In Red, Miss America, Under Her Skin, Disappear Into Nothing, (Lisa-under "Human Art"), (April and By moonlight-under "Nude Art"). Mouse-click the painting to make it bigger and view the caption, underneath. Cool, but creepy! A more colorful gothic style! Welcome to the NIGHT GALLERY! Rod Serling would've loved these paintings. Some of yours, too. But yours may be less goth, and a little more joyous! More celebratory!

On Ebay (years ago), I bought one of Christa Brodnax's paintings (c 1994), but it was from her "psychedelic period". It had about 14 mushrooms, with navy blue and purplish caps, purple, aqua, white and red "gills" and aqua stems (all connected underneath), floating in a bright orange background and "pinkish" flame-effects coming from the mushroom tops. It's not like her other "Weird Art". I have it displayed above my desk. She also gave me one of her refrigerator magnets (with a picture of her "Mermaid In Blue" painting). I've painted two psychedelic acrylic paintings (in the 70's), plus an acrylic science fiction illustration and a "landscape" on the planet MARS.

One of Christa Brodnax's LINKS is: Amazingly Uncommon Paintings>>>Art Beyond the Edge (Invest in the Abstract), By Sherry Bauman, Lexington, KY:
www.artbeyondtheedge.com. On the left, see: "Gallery Page of My Paintings". My favorite is: Landscape>"Beginning Of Repose". These are colorful surrealistic-abstracts, similar to your style. Quite pricey pieces, though! Art IS an investment. Isn't it?

You can look at these websites and get ideas, in case you want to set-up your own website! Plus, seeing some "weird" surrealistic art of others! Your art is as good as the above two artists! It's similar, but unique onto itself!

"Turn on, tune in, and paint alot!

    Peace, love and understanding . . .

wow that was alot of stuf to read cosmicdust, and i am a very slow reader.
will check her out, sounds like you really admire her work.

as for my artistic statement it is ever developing as i discover more and more about myslef and the world.
my work indeed is uplifting, but never without the subtle hardships that linger in the painting.....

like the first ones, there is definately something holy and powerful in there, but at the same time conflicting, a struggle.
the painting is not trying to contradict, but sometimes iv noticed that in our toughest struggles, we are shaped and moulded to see the world differently and apretiate what god has blessed us with.

sometimes i guess we are so used to focusing on what we havnt got instead of how to make what we do have grow into sometihng bigger.......

the one thing i guess will always be certain about my work is that it is out of pure love for god,and a burning passion to express the journey i take in life.

anyways nice talking to you, i will hopefully have a website up soon!
    :)
    i think your cool!
    :)

These are amazing. There isn't much art out there that I'd pay for, for originals anyways, but these would definitely hang over my mantle (if I had a mantle, or my own house for that matter, haha). Simply fantastic.
