An amusing 'joke' doing the round in the world of Physics. Why is our universe unique? Its the only one that superstring theory cant describe.

Sums it up really.

Traditionally when a theory doesn't describe what its supposed to be describing it was regarded as wrong, now its being claimed that its just describing another universe. This new precident does make life easier for the rest of us because now we can claim pretty much anything and just claim that it describes another universe. I do fear however that it may take some of the credibility out of science.

ahhh, I'm with a combination of M theory which unites all the string theories and Amti Goswami's understanding of quantum mechanics that it proves that there is one conciousness... in the realms of conciousness, an infinite numbers of thoughts exist... these thoughts and dreams of a vast intelligent present in all things and all things, an intelligence that is beyond space and time of course, yet caught within, not seperate from its creation. Universes are just possibilities until sentient beings observe them. Yet all this both the possibilities and all the collapses are all happening in a vast "here now" because time is simply a construct of a living form living out it's "movie" that is so absorbed in, but pull back deep inside your form and you will see that you are the one conciousness observing all the movies of all life forms at once, from beyond time and space... the future can change the past, its all intermixed and everchanging... So living forms create solidity into a universe of possibilities, collapsing these possibilities into local material positions, which is the way the dream gets it vividness and solidity that was orginally thought to be governed only by Newtonian physics... This is how we, living forms, are co-creators along with God who set up the possibilities of itself... God just being another word for conciousness which is everything... In these infinite variety of universe, many different laws of physics exist, yet can always be changed and modified if it be the will of the one conciousness that sets up the possibilities in the first place that living forms collapse.

Plus there are levels in which our conciousness reincarnates which Goswami calls quantum monads, and he describes how quantum physics and empirical date of NDEs and reincarnational memory show that it is impossible to conclude that reincarnation doesn't exist, it is fact! so these "souls" travel from form to form, not in a dualistic way, because all these "souls" are ultimately one... and it's all one... It's just Goswami is showing how one can be completely monistically idealistic and still talk about different levels of reality. He is a genius.

Albert Einstien eat your heart out. Science has proved the mystical truth!

M theory is a sub set of string theory, if string theory is invalid, m-theory is just as invalid. You mention that universes cannot exist until they are observed, this is a common misconception. An 'observation' does not require intelligence to observe. It merely requires an interaction. Otherwise you could end up in the amusing situation where a particularly dumb (presumeably hypothetical) person did not have the intelligence to observe whatever.

Though it does raise some philosophical questions about what is 'observing' the universe. Ive always assumed that interactions within it allow it to be self collapsing but some choose to think of it as an indication of God.

You must understand who you are debating... I KNOW that conciousness is one, and everything, not from science... but from mystical knowledge. It is the essential knowledge of my being. I trust it more then any other truth, I fliter all information through it...

I already knew it was true when I ran across Goswami, a physicist agreeing me with an showing how quantum physics proved it. It wasn't a shock to me, what it did to was removed all my doubts lingering occassionaly in my mind that came up due to my respect for science... but primarly I am a mystic.

So I disagree with you points

These are taken from Wikipedia with changes in some of the wording. such as calling it truth.

-M-theory (sometimes also called U-theory) is a theory of physics, which is believed to incorporate and generalize the various superstrings

Consciousness causes collapse is the TRUTH that observation by a conscious observer is responsible for the wavefunction collapse in quantum mechanics. It is an attempt to solve the Wigner's friend paradox by simply stating that collapse occurs at the first "conscious" observer. Supporters claim this is not a revival of substance dualism, since (in a ramification of this view) consciousness and objects are entangled and cannot be considered as distinct.

WIE: This brings to mind the subtitle of your book, How Consciousness Creates the Material World. This is obviously quite a radical idea. Could you explain a bit more concretely how this actually happens in your opinion?

AG: Actually, it's the easiest thing to explain, because in quantum physics, as I said earlier, objects are not seen as definite things, as we are used to seeing them. Newton taught us that objects are definite things, they can be seen all the time, moving in definite trajectories. Quantum physics doesn't depict objects that way at all.In quantum physics, objects are seen as possibilities, possibility waves. Right? So then the question arises, what converts possibility into actuality?Because, when we see, we only see actual events. That's starting with us. When you see a chair, you see an actual chair, you don't see a possible chair.

WIE: Right—I hope so.

AG: We all hope so. Now this is called the "quantum measurement paradox." It is a paradox because who are we to do this conversion? Because after all, in the materialist paradigm we don't have any causal efficacy. We are nothing but the brain, which is made up of atoms and elementary particles. So how can a brain which is made up of atoms and elementary particles convert a possibility wave that it itself is? It itself is made up of the possibility waves of atoms and elementary particles, so it cannot convert its own possibility wave into actuality. This is called a paradox. Now in the new view, consciousness is the ground of being. So who converts possibility into actuality? Consciousness does, because consciousness does not obey quantum physics. Consciousness is not made of material. Consciousness is transcendent. Do you see the paradigm-changing view right here—how consciousness can be said to create the material world? The material world of quantum physics is just possibility. It is consciousness, through the conversion of possibility into actuality, that creates what we see manifest. In other words, consciousness creates the manifest world"

It is obvious that this intelligence exists and can't be minused from this understanding... when we look at all the amazing coicidences in the formation of the universe.... It is impossible to conclude it occured by chance, there are just too many coicidences, in cosmic coincidences, a scientists did the calucations and for it all to have occured by chance, it is practically like winning the lottery by chance, one hundred billion times in a row... get it, you couldn't win it that many times in a room because a human lifespan is not even that old. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR IT TO OCCUR BY CHANCE. Thus imply that in all the universes that exist as possiblities before collapses, when we observe these possibiliteis and look into the past at the formation of the universe, we see the intelligence everywhere we look... every we collapse, in all these amazing coincidences... we see ourselves. we see our intelligence.

To think otherwise is backward, absurd and perfectly understandble and acceptable. It's alright, many people can't be the SHOCK of the truth and refuse to see the cosmic joke they already know.

The whole thing is about this beam of light that is split into two beams with equal intensity, by using half silvered mirror. The two beams are then reflected by two regurlar mirrors to a crossing point on the right.

"The subtlest aspect of the experiment is as follows: In the delayed-choice experiment, the experimentor decides at the very last moment, in the very last pico second (this has been down in the laboratory), whethere or not to insert the half-silvered mirror, whethere or not to measure the wave aspect. In effect, this means that the photons have already traveled past the point of splitting (if you think of them as classical objects.) Even so, inserting at mirror shows the particle aspect. Was each photon moving in one path or two? The photosns seem to respond eve nto our delayed choice instantly and retroactively. A photon travles on path or both paths, exactly in harmony with our choice. How does it know? Is the effect of our choice preceding its cause in time? Says Wheeler: "Nature at the quantum level is not a machine that goes its inexorable way. Instead, what answer we get depends on the question we put, the experiment we arrange, the registering device we choose. We are inescapably involved in bringing about that which appears to be happening.""

Later Goswami concluded...

"The classical scientist looked at the world and saw his single vision of seperateness. A couple of centuries ago, the English romantic poet William blake wrote; 'May God keep, From single vision and Newton's sleep'

Quantum physics is the answer to Blake's prayer. The quantum scientist who has learned the lesson of the complementarity pricible knows better then to heed (apparent) separatness. Quantum measurements interject our consciousness into the arena of the so called objective world. There is no paradox in the delayed choice experiment if we give up the idea that there is a fixed and independant material world even we are not observing it. Ultimately it boils down to what you, the observer, want to see. This reminds me of a Zen story.
Two monks were arguing about the motion of a flag in the wind. Said one: 'the flag is moving.' 'No the wind is moving' said the other. A third monk, who was passing by, made an observation that Wheeler would approve. 'The Flag is not moving. The wind is not moving, Your mind is moving.'"

I am well aware of the definition of key phrases in quantum mechanics having studied it myself for some years now. The idea of collapse of a wavefunction describes the process where a system describes by a number of basis states 'collapses' into a single state. This explanation is required by the Copenhagen Interpretation (the dominant interpretation of Quantum Mechanics) and the so-called Spiritual Interpretation, to which you refer. The fact of the matter is which of these is correct is purely a matter of opinion right now. As you have shown this can cause a lot of philosophical and even religious debate as you can argue some fairly interesting points with this.

Not all interpretations of QM require the collapse of the wavefunction. A favourite of mine is the Bohm interpretation because it naturally incorporates the non-locality of QM (this is where entanglement comes from). All interpretations have flaws and no conclusive experiments have been performed. Though we do know that QM is non-local and thats about it.

It is a matter of fact, only the materialistic mayic nazis think otherwise because maya got a hold of em, pity, and these so called people don't even exist anyway, ONLY GOD EXISTS! and god is all, THE ONE CONSCIOUSNESS... I do not buy into the illussion of seperateness, I hope you burn in heaven for your sins, BURN BURN BURN until your every desire is fulfilled and you are eternally filled with ever-new always varied blissful contenment, so there dude!

Wow. Science is based around experiment. When a theory without experimental grounding is believed then this is more a doctrine of faith than a scientific fact. With candidate TOE theories and to some extent the cosmological standard model the border between belief and fact is becoming blurred. I hear people talking about highly contentious theories as if somehow they are proven, when infact they are candidates at best. Im not trying to bash people beliefs but we have to be careful to with science when we are saying that something is fact and when we are saying that we like a particular theory.

Before my uni days I was into the spiritual interpretation for a while (a short while after finding it mentioned in a pop sci book) however my first issue came when I found its roots as much in the Hindu philosophy of the Advaita Vedanta, maybe interesting for philosophy but not necessarily a great place for a physical theory. Particularly, as I found as I have gone on there is little mathematical grounding for it, indeed no current theory or experiment suggests it. I dont know if theres any kind of maths but id be interested to see how consciousness was incorporated. But even in non-mathematical terms it creates an interesting chicken and egg situation. Life is made from molecules, which to form have to be in a single basis state, so life needs molecules but molecules needs life. In my own personal opinion it is nice (gives you a warm feeling) but as a theory is awkward. However my more important point is this is a theory only, not one on the up either, please do not talk about it as fact until it has been shown so.

To my fellow beings that are aware in the here and now, that we are all one conciousness.

beware of darkness, beware of maya, beware of satan.

Yet do not be alarmed, be still, be calm, relax, take it easy, I must inform you that these are the words of the satanic force also known as maya, it is a part of the one conciousness that points man towards materialism, fills man with doubt, and gets him/her lost in the dream of life... This serves a useful purpose because man needs to get lost in the dream, such is the way of creation... Beings get lost, Beings wake up. This process is the point of life, when all knew we are all one, we understood we must play hide and go seek with oneself in order to relate to oneself from new perspectives, thus one thought... This hide and go seek with ourselves is the point of the universes and the point of getting lost in life forms, in seperation that is not even there, the leela, the divine dance... without getting lost in the dream, we would miss the tremendous joy of waking up, the wonder and beauty of it, our creation, which is US, which is I, there is no seperation.

We must have sympathy for the devil, for those that know, like the Ganja Prince who is a beginner in knowing, trying to shake off his many attachments that keep him from liberation, who is trying to psychological commit ego suicide, he is beginning to understand that...

The man who does not see that the prince of darkness is but the other way of the king of light, does not see me.

SEE ME!

Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and faith
And I was ’round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general’s rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank

Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out,
Who killed the kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
It is so absurd, and so funny

We watch as one, deep in the center, with UNBEARABLE COMPASSION, AND INFINITE POWER.

We feel all the pain and all the joy, as one... it is all ours to share in these times of darkness and despair for earth. yet watch the children play, so gay, watch them shout "horray" for no reason other then the pure moment, the pure moment of play.

Haven't you had enough pain and suffering, why continue this way of thinking and bring men down into the pits of ignorance, the pits of materialism?

Where have all the flowers gone?

All we are saying is give peace a chance!

Let us laugh and celebrate this here now moment... Let us wake up friends, and serve all beings, feed all beings, and love all beings!

Wohoooo!

This world is the creation of the mind.
Once the mind becomes mindless,

In response to the original joke, my understanding of superstring theory does a very elequoent job of explaining the unique and novel. Much of the current theory hasn't been calculated yet into higher dimensional frameworks. As dimensionality approaches inifnity, all forms become novel. The universe is an infinite fractal, if you don't think it is, try looking at it.
