First the history: I've had my nip pierced since june '05 and I didn't really get it done in the most safe fashion (I regret doing it the way I did). I actually did go out and get sterilized needles and barbells, but I had a friend who had pierced before do it. It was painful as all hell because he didnt have a clamp and ice wasn't involved...so yeah. It seemed to heal really well until the past few months.. The Problem: I've been scabbing where the barbell comes out of the piercing. It has only bled once, and I clean it regularly while trying to leave the scabs alone, but it's kind of worrying me. I haven't let anyone touch it in the past couple of months, and it continues to scab. Otherwise it's actually healing really naturally, but it's red and tender right around the edges. I'm hoping it isn't anything, but I wanted to know if anyone else has gotten this..
If its scabbing, thats a sign that it isn't healing nautrally. If it is white and crusty, that isn't scabbing, its lymph(just dead skin cells a plasma), which is a natural part of healing. Nips can take a long time to heal, and even when fully healed will slightly discharge occasionally. Given that it wasn't pierced by a professional, I'd go to a reputable shop to make sure that it has be placed correctly and everything is on track. Peace
yeah, this happened to me. my story is actually kind of similar to yours, actually. i was keyed and decided to get it something peirced & a friend did it. it was fine for awhile then it started scabbing and i figured it was fucked up and took it out. i just let it heal for a couple months and got it re-peirced. havent had any problems since then
I don't know about that.. My nipples scabbed when they were healing. What kind of jewlery do you have in? The jewlery might be too short for the size of your nipples and might be causing un-needed pressure if they are barbells and they are too tight.
you are crazy!!! I hope it works out for you I don't have any advice, don't know shit about piercings, but I felt like I had to at least wish ya luck
My nipples took about 6 months to heal, but I wore a bra the whole time (even to bed) with them, and I actually made sure they were "taped" down if I went out somewhere. (Kept them from getting caught or snagged on anything!)
Hmm...I didn't even think of a suffocating barbell...I did change it to a slightly smaller one awhile back come to think of it...It's not intensely short though
Well, when you say not intensely short, can you see any of the barbell's post? O=(___)=O <-- Like so? If the barbell is like this: O(___)O Then it's probably too tight for a fresh piercing. If it's like this: ()___() Then it's definitely too tight. (I hope my little drawings made sense)
