This is the official announcement for the Family Christmas
Get-to-Gather. The dates are December 22nd thru the 25th and will be on
the beautiful Sipsey river in Bankhead national forest in NorthWest
Alabama. If you have never been there you are in for a treat. I have
been all over this great country of ours and there are few places that
are as pristine and beautiful as the Sipsey wilderness.

From Double Springs take hwy 33 north to county road 6 (about 5 miles
and not the first hwy 6) and make a left. This road turns into county road 60.
Go 3 or 4 miles until you see a bridge. Park in the parking area by the bridge
and take Trail #209 north (upriver) until you see a creek that flows into the Sipsey
    (about a half mile).

This is a Family camping trip and all are welcome! Although.....
this is not a gathering and there will not be a kitchen. So pack in
everything you need just like a regular backpacking trip.

I look forward to many hugs and lotsa love while we hang out in one
the most beautiful places I have ever been and give thanks to our
creator for all we are blessed with!

    Peace, Love, and

    Hello,
When I saw that you were planning a gathering in Alabama, my heart started to race, as I very vividly rememer the , was it 94, Alabama National in Talladega (sp). It was so startingly beautiful. I remember driving all the way up to the top of the mountain, where everyone parked cars, and hiked down. The first thing I saw or heard was a brother sitting on a cliff above this welcoming, ice cold lake, playing a flute as if it were Ian Andersohn himself (Jethro Tull, remember?). We had to hike ten miles down just to get down to "Welcome Home", in 105 degree heat. It made no difference, as we all felt like we were gliding. I was so naive back then, and thought since it was so hot in the valley and trails, of course it still would be so hot way up in the mountains at night!! I proudly bought a sheet for sleeping. It turned down to 46 degrees deep into the night, even in July! Everytime I would wake, my tent mate and I would have put on something else from our packs. It was really funny. Alabama. I remember hitchhiking back after hiking the ten miles just to swim in that lake, and the men that picked me up, (my male friend had to hide in the trees until anyone would stop) gave me ice cold water and a cold Coke. It was like Manna from the heavens! That gathering sticks out as one of the best times in my life, and I have lived quite a life so far. Everyone was happy, fireflies were everywhere, and there were over 75 drums at the spirit fire!! On the fourth of July, everyone is quiet until the children break silence at noon. But July 3rd is such a party night that most adults were still sleeping at noon. I woke up to "Kid Creole and the Coconuts" playing and singing!! I thought I was dreaming. If you haven't heard them, you should. Really great drum circle and great reggae. Perfect. It was perfect. This is really exciting, as Alabama, although I wouldn't want to live there, was breathtakingly beautiful. Everyone who can make it must go. You will be amazed, and even the police and every other agency that came to harass us would come back at night with their spouses, all now in plain clothes, and helped out with the fire and anything else that was needed and just having a great time. They had grins ear to ear, and I think most of us looked like that. The treasury department even came out to see if we were furnishing our own money! I still have my patch. After the first day that he said he was a "naval inspector", we would all show him our "navels" when he would walk by. Corny, I know, but it was so funny at the time, and he was very cool. What a great plan!! Congrats to the scouts and focalizers!

i remember that gathering well, it wasa beautiful gathering, but a couple things i remember about it is ..the rainbows wwere outnumbered by locals..it seemed like the locals were so interested they came in floods, unfortunately that meant finding beer cans in the main circle & everywhere.. but on the other hand they wetre very freindly..another thing i remeber was the sweet home (alabama) kitchen, which had a really amazing setup concidering i think that was the 1st time theyd done a kitchen..
cheshire maybe i met ya there?

The bama nationals was my first gathering...but I think it was a few years before 94..it was a split gathering I remember that much and it ( of course) changed my life.
I was however in Talledega for seed camp for the 94 bama with the remains of lizard lounge and moonweed cafe..Our bus got confiscated by 6 up on the way "for some reason "and we were stranded in Alabama..miss a lot of those folks. Anyone know where to find
Brian torez , white feather. blue, allison, Chris, pokey, lezal, or any of those guys these days?

    love to everyone

    Hi there,
The last time I recall seeing either of them, and you can't miss blue, they were in Gainesville Fla. at Kendo and Lynn's place for a small gathering of North Fla. rainbows. I love her, she is a gem. But I haven't seen anyone since moving to this unbelievably void of everything place. They will probably be in Ocala in Feb. I hope you all connect again. I love it when that happens, and it really makes all doubt about things vanish in a second. Best wishes, peace to all of you.

Rainbow isn't a 'club', but a well organized non-organization. http://welcomehere.org/ or http://welcomehome.org/ have more info.

Every year there's a national gathering somewhere in the US. My last one was for over three weeks California where it peaked at about 20,000 other freaks.

With the Patroit act becarefull they might round you all up. you can bet some 1 is there taking vehicles tag numbers and pictures by a agent dressing like a hippie.Just 45 days after the September 11 attacks, with virtually no debate, Congress passed the USA PATRIOT Act. There are significant flaws in the Patriot Act, flaws that threaten your fundamental freedoms by giving the government the power to access to your medical records, tax records, information about the books you buy or borrow without probable cause, and the power to break into your home and conduct secret searches without telling you for weeks, months, or indefinitely.

Yes,, the Patriotic act is a disgace to the American people. Should we stop gathering because of this act? No. They take our pictures and harass us anyway. We "live" there when we are gathering, and they must have a warrent for searching the tents. Believe me, I have been there when that threat was made. You must stay at home all the time, not wanting to be involvled with anything. Go in somebody's car who is in their right mind abou the whole thing. You don't even know what it's like, yet you judge. Not a good start for a rainbow brother, but I'm sure you wouldn't want to be one of those. Believe it or not, we have a legal coucil which helps us with all of these issues. We are a very organized,non-exclusive groupe of all kinds.. One of my best friends, whom I first met when I was at my first gathering, is the Asst. Attorney General. I think he know what's happening a little better than you. But please, if it frightens you, don't come. You will miss a spectacular event, I'll tell you that. We aren't trouble makers, and the forestrangers have no problem with us, becaus after seed camp and clean up have finished, it even looks better than when we arrived.

    "Walk on a rainbow trail
Walk on a trail of song..
And all about you will be beauty.
There is a way out of ever dark mist..
    Over a Rainbow Trail.

Since there are no Rainbows that I have found in the 2 1/2 yrs of living here in eastern Montana, I'm starting a gathering once a month, full moon drum circles around a camp fire on my hill right outside of town, weather allowing. If it's 30 below zero out, we'll met in the library of the haunted house on the hill by the fire place, if it's that cold, I'm sure the crowd will be slim. Chances are I will be at the drum circle alone most of the time since I live in such a remote place. Maybe I can encourage area kind folks to attend the potluck. We shall see.

The MonDak region full moon potluck and drum circle.
