I just adore fiona apple, i've even had to repair her cds because they were all run down... but I would like to listen to other female artist similar to her. someone told me tory amos... any other ideas?
Tori is with an I, not a Y. As for artists like her? Well... I know a bunch of female artists that are like her in some ways.. but none are an exact fit. Ani Difranco, Sarah Harmer, Sara Slean, Tegan and Sara (lots of Saras, eh?), Mazzy Star, Fiest, Eisley... Some of those are Canadian.. namley all the Saras...so I don't know if their music is availiable in your area.
Fiona Apple is pretty good, not so much her solo stuff, but when she's got Jon Brion producing she's not bad at all. Too bad she's so horribly lame and ugly, but hey, at least she makes enjoyable music.
I am absolutely enamoured with Extraordinary Machine. Everytime I hear Red Red Red and Not About Love I'm a smitten kitten. On topic, go for Amos. She's spectacular. And someone mentioned Sara Slean. I've seen this lady live five times and every time she blew my mind. Not sure why she doesn't get more play. Listen to her.
