why do many people not like phish?

right on....

 

How can anyone listen to a phish show from 94 or 95 and not understand why phish is so great? They were just striaght sick back then and trey was unbelievable. I just dont understand how ppl can hate on them considering how fucking good tehy were in the mid 90s (from a purely objective viewpoint).

that is an amazing story. very fun read but hard to tell exactly how accurate it is. and really has nothing to do with the music.

I just tonight shared a disc of 6-18-94 with some "youngsters" who wanted to hear some phish....that was a great show too. Told them to come back for the other 2 discs if they like it.

 

I started seeing Phish in 93 and felt they're best year was 94'. I saw upwards of 70 shows up until 98 or so, but then kind of lost interest.

I still respect them and give a listen now and then, but I felt their performances went way down hill after 98 - not to mention the scene at the shows drastically went downhill - a lot more junkies, negativity in the crowd and less overall magic

I am grateful the many wonderful shows I caught early on, but can understand why people who were introduced to the band after 98 or so, didn't really feel the magic as much because it was occuring much less frequently

 

bullshit. i've been seeing Phish since 1996....and post 98 is some of the best stuff! 98 in itself if a magical year of just amazing shows....99 has some great new experimention....00 was getting into this trance kind of stuff that can be heard in the Japan shows......its all good!

 

I have to admit that I never got into Phish or ever really cared. Then I heard the NYE 95 show at Madison Square Garden. Wow.

 

yes!!! thats what i'm talkin about! there are a few shows that will convert the non-believers, adn then a flood gate opens and you start to appreciate all sorts of shows and sounds. because Phish has different kind of shows....there are nights were they are more serious and ther a re other where their in goofy moods and you can hear that when they do "simpson" teases or somthing like that.....

once you are a full on PHISH fan go get the 94 BOMB FACTORY show....it is truly the wackiest night. great show to put on from beggining to end....you feel like your hanging wiht them, because there was barley anybody in the room, but they still put on one hell of a show....

 

I dont really enjoy the bomb factory show as much as others but thats just me

 

Most people don't like Phish because they do not fit a profile.

Pretty much the same dates as me. Yeah actually I never really said 'that' out loud but I always felt it. Something seemed to be missing from those later years. I didn't lose interest; I did however think that a change (for the worse) had occured. Maybe because they had aged, drifted further from those early days as an eclectic group of UV guys.

Also they didn't play a complete Gamehenge show after '94. And on that note if anyone has a tape of a full show I would like it as my two have gone missing.

 

i'm in the same boat with GAMEHENGE thing.....i really want it back! i had the 6.26.94 version, the legendary GAMEHOIST show, but it got scratched....which really bothers me, because i really take good care of all my CDs!!! how do they get scratched??? the medium of COMPACT DISC is rediculous! it degrades every time you listen to it....soon CD will only be back up, and everything will be in microchip form.....no moving parts...no spinning disc to destroy....

not everyone has to like phish, and not everyone will. its like saying why doesnt everyone like ac/dc or backstreetboys, or sci, or anyother band. i mean phish has their own unique sound. and maybe some people dont like change, or uniqueness. i think phish is a great band, but like everyother band they have some songs that i dont like so much. i mean what can u do... shit happens haha peace~
