Honestly I wouldn't pay to go to school for photography (unless your parents are paying in full). College is a huge investment that can certainly pay off, but realistically only to those who are going into professional fields.

If you're into arts and entertainment, forget college, just do it.

some colleges will have photo classes in the J side and the arts side. I had the opportunity to do both. (I earned a BA Journalism/print. doing it now.)
Rigamorole's attitude is what's wrong with liberal arts colleges in the US. We left them to the MBA crowd & now they are worker factories.
I say go study what feeds your soul and figure out how to pay the bills with it.
Take back the well rounded education that you get to chose.
Missouri -Columbia is THE school for J, which means it's competitive.
I graduated from a small state school in oKlahoma (my text was written by Missouri Columbia faculty) and got most of my experience with internships and jobs in college.
Marketing might allow you to be freer with the photo side, though. plus, it pays better and you can afford to print more of your art!

ohio university has a good journalism school, so i'm told.
they also have a good visual communications program, which is like photojournalism and commercial photography. which allows you to take journalism classes, too.

i go there and am in the photojournalism major. so if you want to ask me Q's ...

I attended Ball State Univeresity in Muncie, Indiana for two years. They have nice Art and Journalism departments, I was in both of them. The profs are pretty good, and they have really nice, up to date facilities.

If you don't mind living in a small town, then it might be worth looking into.
