I have been playing with some ideas on how to live away and off the grid. I have thought about selling my truck getting a horse and really getting away. Maby going into the wild and mine for gold or such. I have looked it up a little but would love to here from travelers on some good ideas. Lets here some ideas from the travelers on how to self sustain and really get away. I build log cabins now that could help alot. Lets hear it
Horses eat a lot & some towns require permission to ride a horse through town. Had a friend who looked into horse travel a few years back. the best way to be self substainable these days it to go bio-diesil and have a craft you can sell if you need vehicle repairs or some such.
im about to enter the world of travel nursing, eery six months a pick a new city and they pay for my move and my stay while im there... im looking into an rv to pull along because its literally the easiest way to travel and not pack all the time. nursing on the other hand is a bitch to get thru but well worth it, were in a shortage and ur helping more people than you could possibly imagine
The Appalachian trail is nearby and would be a good introduction to living in the "wild". There are still some horse caravans travelling in central america, though most people get sick of travelling in a group. I'm travelling the southwest and west for 7-8 months next year via bicycle and hiking, i met a guy last year who went from Anchorage to el paso. Some people travel the entire PCT on horseback. I personally think horses are a high maintenance pain, and that's why there are so few of them.
ah , tweek the horse idea into a donkey one . the point ain't to ride , itsa to carry a bit of stuff and a happy donkey is a donkey with a job . same goes for you . the question is , what's the simple gift you shall make to the world all along the way ? a smile and a kind word is enough really .
