Just wondering if anyone knew if that act is still happening? Have they made any new laws pertaining to all those arrest that were made?
It's nothing cool, it's what the government named their act to cut down on bongs. They put Chong, Zong toy company, JBD, and many others out of business. As far as I know, there is no current plan to take down bong makers/sellers. It seems as if the online glass market is getting bigger again, just like before the first pipe dreams, so perhaps they are letting things settle for a bit before going on any major busts.
Even if it was put back into action, they probably would leave the headshops alone as long as they use labels specifying that they are "intended for tobacco use only".
They didnt the first time around.. They basically said bongs (waterpipes) weren't for tobacco use so stores aren't allowed to sell them. A lot of people ended up paying hefty fines, losing a lot of money and spending a lot of time in jail for selling various "tobacco" products including things to beat drug tests, wired rolling papers and scentless bags. Hopefully it will be overturned since Ashcroft isnt the Attorney General anymore but I hear Gonzalez is just as bad as he was.
Odds are they will just wait until they can score some serious cash and goods before busting anyone again...
