I posted this in the birth control forum too, then thought more people might see it here... guess its mostly a statement Why is it that in this day and age of all the technological and medical advances, are women still forced to choose from so many lame options for Birth control? I cant take the pill For years, my husband I thought the rhythm method was working, then we were blessed with twins when I was 25! Well, that worked out fine... Now, Im 34 and given so few options, I tried the IUD ... had it removed and asked the Dr, WHY is the burden on women (OK, I admit it, dumb question!) Anyway, he says, FAIR is just another four letter F-word! Haha, would be funny if it wasnt my life! While I was waiting to see him, there were 3 posters up notifying patients that he would no longer be prescribing certain types of pills b/c of irreversible bone density loss, heart problems, blood clots etc....Aslo one about some implant.... Theres gotta be something they arent telling us! any input would be greatly appreciated peace and planned pregnancies!
OK, so you mention "husband"... I am assuming you are still together, since you don't say "ex-hubby" or "hubby at that time"... Are you two wanting to have more children in the future? If not, I have one word for you: VASECTOMY!!! It's a quick, simple procedure, far less invasive than a woman getting her tubes tied, doesn't impair function, etc. No hormones, no daily/monthly side effects, just a simple out-patient procedure. And, it's relatively simple to reverse if you two change your mind and decide you'd like another little one 5 years from now. Of course, if you are planning on more little ones, that's probably not a route you want to take. In which case, all I can offer is sympathy. Supposedly, they are working on a male bc pill, but that's still in the research phase.
ditto that. there's also the fact that are different kinds of pills and different kinds of IUDs, one might be better than another for you. i can't take the pill myself but now i have the mirena IUD and love it. as for the diaphragm, i have used it before. you have to make its insertion part of your foreplay. my husband used to put it in for me. however...we do have a son, nough said. lol
well, as regards to the diaphragm, there is that, lol. i think it is supposed to have a pretty high prevention rate if used correctly. coat it well with spermicide, and don't ever tell yourself 'it'll probably be ok today'.
