Most of the provisions of the Patriot act were very positive, giving the government much more power to investigate money laundering related terrorist activities. The provisions which did expire (beyond section 200) were ones that I didn't support. Although one of the provisions that did expire was about intellegence sharing between agencies and very positive, but other legislation will also entil the haring of investigative information between homeland security agenices. What are you complaining about? These expirations are a good thing. I'm not fond of Bush either, but I don't see your point here. This seems like a misplaced area to be mad at bush. There are a lot of reasonable things to be mad at Bush about. I mean, the President on the back of several major intellegence failures which he has *rightfully* been held acountable for, wanting to extend provisions which he sees as investigativly usefull isn't a surprise. But some of those provisions should have been allowed to expire because they we're unnesecary and dangerously vauge. Which specific parts do you object to? Because they probably just expired. What part of money laundering investigations do you disagree with? Or excluding people from immegration who've had contact with criminal cells outside the country? Sounds pretty sweet doesn't it? You're oversimplifying a complex peice of legislation which aside from a few provisions was very essential to correcting problems in US intellegence.
I wasn't complaining that it expired? I'm glad it expired. I was just saying that Bush seems to be hiding behind the Patriot Act. That, and that whole speech just seemed to say "get out of the way of my power America, I'm the president, not YOU!" But then again, that's all it ever seems like he's saying.
