I know that it would depend on the book, publisher and who actually owns the rights, but I was wondering if anyone here has any experience adapting a book into a film/tv script. I'm in the process of it right now, and I while I'm not totally serious about it now, if it's plausable, I might try to buy the rights, so I'd be able to sell the script. How would I start? Would I get in contact with the publisher or the writer's agent? Any imput would be useful.
I would contact the writer in the first place as they are most likely to hold the copyright and they would know what rights they have sold.
