I'm reminded of a comment made by someone here I believe, he's gotta be the smartest President we've ever had, 'cause a stupid person couldn't act that dumb.

As the article says, a few decades from now some historian may be able to make some sense of this craziness. But I doubt it. All I can say is I tried my best twice to keep him out of office. But sometimes my best isn't worth enough.

Well, all we really know is that he didn't marrry, everything else about his gayness is all speculation.
also, the demoractic party of 1865 was completely different from the democratic party of 1965. Ever since the Democrats passed the civil rights act and lost the south they haven't been anyware close to the same.

"Whatever [Buchanan's] sexual preferences, his real failures were in refusing to move after South Carolina announced secession from the Union and attacked Fort Sumter..."

I smell bullshit. Both of those happened when Lincoln was in office... what the hell could Buchanan do about it?

Actually buchanan was in office when fort sumpter was attack and South Carolina announced secession, it was before the whole south went (for the most part) and before there were any "real" battles.

Buchanan is the only president from Pennsylvania, so guess who I learned about in elementery school?

    Well, at least you tried.

People in Ohio used to be more middle of the road, but now they are falling into this religious stigma too.
