I managed to scrounge up an old 12" woofer from the garbage about 8 months ago, and I can't figure out what it is. I tried the Rockford Fosgate website and it says that they only do car audio, but the box itself is massive, and probably wouldn't fit into a station wagon lying down with all the seats up. When I got it, the copper coil inside was touching and that was the only thing stopping it from working.

I am wondering if Rockford Fosgate ever made home audio or if I actually have a car woofer in my bedroom?

For any help, it's a Rockford Fosgate "The Punch". The text on the nipple is Rockford Fosgate The Punch in white, on a black speaker.

I think the box is about 4ft tall, 2 1/2 ft wide, and 2 1/2 ft long, so you see, the speaker is enclosed in a very large box, weighing maybe 150lbs altogether.

    what he said ^

the punch line was all car audio...but that box sounds like it's made for home audio, or somone was just a retard and made a horrible box for that sub

those punch 12"'s only need like 2 cubic feet for optimal performance

i had 2 punch 10's and was not impressed by them at all

i'm biased to alpine though, my Type S 10's sound 100 times better than the RF ones, Imo alpine makes alot better equipment in general then RF, RF is kinda bottom of the barrel to me, alot of other companies i would go with first

I'd go with JL Audio rather than any other speakers, but I think that finding 12" subs just kicks so much more ass than paying $200 for a new speaker that works just as good.

I am thinking about crafting a new box, or maybe even modifying my current box to better fit in my bedroom.

I was wondering if it still runs decent or if it should be any better hooked up to the proper 4 ohm system. I was ALSO wondering what the copper coil inside the box was for, hooked up between the recepticals and the speaker itself. I was thinking that it might be used to convert the 8 ohm signal from my stereo into a 4 ohm signal that the speaker runs off of.
