I agree, Border Collies are really smart, sensitive and just really cool dogs with endless energy, but then, since I have three of them, it would be hard for me to think any other way.
My cat has to be one of the dumbest cats I know (but I still love him). One day, he noticed the clock. The clock had been there for months before The Discovery, but on this one day, he noticed it, and stared at it intently for at least an hour. After that hour, he jumped on the counter so that he was eye-level with the clock, launched himself at the clock, missed, hit the wall, and slid onto the floor. He wasn't hurt, but he never eyed The Clock again. He has too much pride to concede defeat once again. He also likes the bathtub. He skids from one end to another, then spins in it on his back.
If my cat hears a noise late at night outside my door, he'll run to the door and start growling like a dog. He has claws too, he'd kick someones ass if they tried to break in. He also plays with the water dish sometimes. He'll move it one way, then watch the water splash around, then he does it again. He's smart like that.
like followed it up into the tree? my dog evil is half pitty and half shepard mix. A total comedy show - so much enegy and personality... i used to have trouble keeping him execised enough -then i bought a pulling harness last summer. now i just harness him up, take him out in the street with my skateboard and ZOOM, we go do a few laps around the block. Its great; he can run till he's satisfied, and all i have to do is stay on the board. then we trot on home.
When I was growing up, I lived with my Grandparents and their boxer named Gent. He was HUGE! He adopted me as the runt of his litter, I guess, as he followed me everywhere, and would sleep in my bed "on guard". Grandma would let Gent out of the yard when school was letting out, and he would met me outside the school yard to walk me home. He was totally my best friend. One day, my grandma sent me to the store to get her some cigarettes (small rural town 20 some years ago). I went, and on the way home, some men started following me. They were calling out to me, and saying gross things (stuff they wanted to do to me). I got scared and started to run, but I was wearing rubber boots and couldn't run very fast. I started yelling. Meanwhile, Gent is inside, looking out the window, waiting for me to come home. He must have heard me yelling, and ran over the door to be let out into his "dog run" area. Grandpa let him out, and Gent took off. He jumped the fence to his dog run, and then jumped over the front yard fence. He started running towards me, while I was still 2 blocks away. He ran to me, made sure I was ok, and then took off growling after those 2 men. The men quickly started running the other way. Gent showed up at home 2 hours later, and I swear the dog was smiling. Long story, but MAN! It's amazing how loyal dogs are to their "pack"!
i guess its not that amazing but i taught our dog to give people high fives...its pretty cute to see him stand up with his paw in the air. I love my Floyd
I just remembered something else my cat does. After he goes to the bathroom he gets really happy and runs around.
I used to have a turtle (Ernest) who could do flips and hissed. It was scary! He could also run like lightening.
Our puppy was very unsociable; she couldn’t even lick our cheeks as all puppies do. So my little daughter taught her to do it. She had licked puppy’s nose. Puppy had been hesitating for two seconds and then began to lick my daughter.
I wouldn't say this is weird or amazing, but more along the lines of "cute"--my cat Regan can give a high-five! All I have to do is say "Regan, gimme five" and he'll reach up and touch his paw to my hand! Occasionally, he'll give me ten (he'll reach up with both paws)! LOL I kind of taught him to do that by accident--but he's been doing it since he was a kitten, and now he's 16! Pretty cool, huh? Peace!
yeah this is also along the lines of cute. my rat terrier lily hates it when i take time away from her to go on the computer so whenever i go online she paws at me and pulls at my clothes trying to pull me off the seat. if i dont give in to her demands she will start growling and then find the nearest thing that she *shouldnt* be chewing on and run away with it because she knows that will get me to get up and go after her.
I've had the same cat since I was 6, and she followed me to the bus stop every day elementary through high school. She'd also accompany me to random places around the neighborhood, basically anywhere she saw me walking. When my parents would yell at me and my brothers, she'd jump on them. C'mon how can you stay mad at your kid when a cat is hanging on you? It's just too funny. She doesn't really go places with me anymore (too old, I think), but sleeps in my room and gets alarmed when I listen to loud music or buy something like a pair of zebra-striped boots. I also had a cat who literally massaged my back, but she died of leukemia a long time ago.
