On the Verge of Nuclear War

I'm not sure how many people realize just how close the world is to starting a nuclear war at this time.

Despite so many attempts to reign in the proliferation of nuclear weapons, we are probably now closer than ever (except for Bay of Pigs) to a nuclear war.

I don't expect this upcoming war to be on the scale of the Soviets vs the Americans, but it could escalate if cool heads don't prevail.

No, it's not Korea that will launch an attack, at least not at first.

It will most likely be the Israelis, who backed into a corner and facing their own annihalation at the hands of the insane man now running Iran, who will launch the first missile.

The Israelis would strike using jets, probably over Iraqi airspace, with American permission (or over the Gulf). They will use conventional weapons to take out the nuclear facilities of Iran. That is if you consider 5000 lb bunker busting bombs conventional.

Of course Iran will retaliate, and that is when the nukes will start to fly.

What happens next is anyone's guess, but I'm pretty sure if Iran launches a nuke, it would probably take no more than a minute for Israel and the Americans to retaliate with force.

The present time is the most critical because the Israelis are losing their window to be effective against Iran. If they wait too long, the retaliation will be much worse with Iran fielding ever more nuclear tipped missiles as time goes by.

Of course they could just reach a standoff like the US & Russia did, and keep their weapons as a deterrent, but that seems unlikely because Iran will gladly pass on its technology (and already has) to other gulf/islamic countries. So the longer they wait, the more proliferation, the greater the threat to Israel.

There seems to be no way out of this situation because of the man running Iran seems so bent on the destruction of Israel, he will likely bring about the destruction of his own country.

He seems totally unaware of history, claiming the Nazi holocaust was a lie. So it's likely he's also unaware of what nuclear bombs actually do to people and cities. All the more reason for him and his kind to be taught a lesson, just like the one the japs got in Hiroshima. He probably doesn't even realize that if he were to wipe out Israel, he would also take out the Palestinians too.

It would be the crowning act to nuke Iran as a final warning to the arab world to yield to the west. Of course the response of the arab world would be to turn everyone of them into terrorists, bent on the destruction of the west. But of course we seem to be heading in that direction anyway, thanks to the ineffective, incompetent leadership in the US today.

Oh, and of course the religious right doomsayers are already having a field day with this. It's Revelations coming true! Yeah right. More like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

What was that about 2012? Gee that's only 6 years away now.

Which is exactly why I think the US leaders don't give a shit about the environment or how many innocent people die at the hands of US troops, cause they're all planning on checking out in a few years anyway!

I suppose the good news is there is still a relative balance in nuclear arsenals among rival countries.

Pakistan is really the one to blame for Iran getting the technology, as well as spreading it around to other islamic states.

But you see that's a problem too, since Pakistan has lots of radicals, probably as many as Iran. If Musharrif was taken out, they could seize control and then the war would spread quickly.

In fact the biggest wildcard is how muslims around the would react. If they all see it as an attack on their religion, they just might unify and then it would be world war.

What's really fucking weird though, is that this scenario, which I'm sure has been played out again and again in the Pentagon, always assumes one thing... that the US wins.

And that is another fucking illusion, and is the reason why we went into Iraq in the first place. For some insane reason, the US believes it can't lose. It's leaders truly believe, especially Dubya, that the US is somehow protected by God, doing his work, and according to prophecy (which Bush believes, yes!) the wicked will be punished and the goodie goodie religious right will be saved!

Even the neocons who turn up to criticize every post in this forum, believe that not only that the US can do no wrong, but that it can't lose (unless of course we stinking liberals mess things up - everything is OUR fault of course).

Just like Bush is perfect (do they still think this?), the US is perfect, and it's unpatriotic to say otherwise.

So of course if our leaders take us to war, NUCLEAR WAR that is, we should support them no matter what. We are at war, remember? So anything goes!

And we shall win, Imshallah!

 

BTW, I rate the possibility of this war as being 100 times more of a threat than all the terrorists on the planet.

 

Another incredible irony: The President of Iran is insane. In fact the first time I saw a photo of him, it had been doctored to emphasize horns at the hairline and a goatee - on a big news website, too (probably foxnews).

But what's ironic is that BUSH is even more insane. He thinks God is talking to him. Telling him what to do. So either he is hearing discarnate entities, or he thinks Cheney is God. Either way, he's fucking nuts!

So now we got two nuts with nuke hard-ons who both think they are doing God's will. So I guess it's God's will that we wipe each other off the face of the earth. Now that is ironically insane!

 

Ah, but that won't stop Bush from attacking some country, based on some "faulty intelligence" he is given, which he wanted to invade anyway.

They got away with it once, they can do it again. Americans can be such dumb and pathetic sheep. Or are they finally waking up?
