    Hellooo...
Just wondering what you all are using out there to get great postable photos of your beautiful crafts. I would love to share some of my work with you all, but can't figure out what the best digital camera would be (oh, yeah what about software too??)... any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I have two, a Sony Cybershot 707 (5 megapixel) and a Nikon D70 (going out of production and dropping in price) SLR.
I got the Nikon because I already had the glass for it (I shoot Nikon film cameras)
Don't even look at something with less than 3 MP. It will frustrate you and be obsolete quickly. My Sony already is.

For detail, you have to have a good pic to begin with.
Sizing, esp for web posting, will add grain, like the pic below:

The detail is there: the light flare above Bobby, the hairs, the threads of teh shirt, but bringing this from my print file size to something that will fit in HP bandwidth does degrade the pic.
as for software, I love Photoshop, but it costs so much. Many cameras come with software that will let you download and flip and resize, which is all you'd need for Web pix.

For craft items, a strong contrast is nice:

Canon and Pentax are in my opinion the best cameras on the market. I've been into photography forever and those are the only cameras I like. Unfortunately, my digital is a fuji (which gets the job done), but my other camera is a canon (wish I could make it digital).

we can argue brands forever and never agree. I'm so dratted picky that I use Ilford BW film, Ilford paper, fuji color film and my Nikons: one is older than me (it's a '64, I'm a '68 ;P ) I have and F and an N90. I use the N90 glass (lenses) with my D70.
I got the Sony because it has a Carl Zeiss lens.. and I will never afford a Leica set up!
I hated the Pentax I rented for my first class. Canon film cameras are OK, but I like my Nikons. A friend said they were too small for his hands, so I wonder if I like the smaller size.

I've only the got 4.1MegaPixel but I'm pretty darn impressed with it. It's the first time that I've ever owned a camera that cost more than $20. lol

I 've dropped $2000 on cameras in the past 4 years.
Aside from lenses, I should be good on bodies.
Ineed a good fast lense for concerts: I won't always be at their feet like the bobby shot above. the Mushrooms were taken fron the side stairs.
And that's Paul's tie dye, btw. Middle one sold that night (yay)
