'The author, a former police officer of India had uneque oppertunity to probe in to the affairs of some of the godmen and their Aashrams. With his intimate knwoledge and acumen for investigation, he had unravelled the mystries shrouded around the godmen\women and debunks their claims of supernatural powers. A rare and interesting book, a must to read by every one.'

'The author was awarded President’s Police Medal for distinguished service, besides numerous other medals and rewards. This is his fourth published work; a rare and interesting book – a must to read by everyone.'

When any guru, bogus god, or group, has harmed people, I dont' back down. I don't look the other way, and I don't dismiss the victims. And, believe me, after looking into these matters for over three decades, there are more phonies and perverts among the so called Godman and Gurus then you would imagine or perhaps dare to believe. To you I say, look at both sides of the story, not just the devotee-written puff pieces. And, this is a place to warn others about the many, and I do mean many, who have hoodwinked and harmed people.

I think people should be very careful about anyone in whom they place confidence as a spiritual guide/guru - there are many charlatans -
    To name but a few:
    Sai Baba
    Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
    Maharaji - Prem Rawat
    ISKCON Gurus, inc. Swami Prabhupada
    Bhagavan Shree Rajneesh - Osho

    There are also many others.

I agree with you on the others being pretty much phonies, but come on, he's got such giggle, his intentions are good. He's got some major flaws I'll admit, but he is still pretty damn cool... The TM scientific research has proves that our vibes can reduce crime, without this man we wouldn't have that data... so come on don't group him in with the others, man.

And as far as Prem Rawat goes, he may be phony... but he was sort of forced into his role... I mean if you were eight years old and everybody was telling you that you were the perfect master and you already had millions of followers... it would be kind of hard not to pick up the ball in run with it... not that it doesn't make him any less phony though, just thought I would make this comment for the krishna of it.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi - see this http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115239

So - no more bouncing brits!

If I was 8 years old and had everyone telling me I was a perfect master, I might believe it. However, when I got a bit older and more self aware, I'd have to disabuse them of such an illusion. Unless of course I wanted to make lots of money by conning others into believing it.
The case of Krishnamurti was similar - only he had the wisdom and integrity to decline the role.
