Your lack of knowledge on the subject aside, you seem to be a very good person to ask all of these questions for your friend. That's cool.
I am sorry for "butting in, and being an idiot"... In my opinion, the idiot is the person who consumes a drug that they have little knowledge about.
agreed, but you have to start from somewhere, and when you dont know something its usually much easier to ask for help than to look it up, especially if you've got no idea about what sort of resources are available to find the information you need. such is true with drugs, and if you can't get an answer from someone you know in real life, you may as well look for help from an online community dedicated to such things. while the initial ignorance is irritating and hard to deal with, and while i got somewhat annoyed and thought that he was being a little difficult, he was motivated by a desire to help his friend out and a desire to learn something as well. thats as good a reason as any, isn't it? i remember a time when i didnt even know what a psychedelic was, let alone that some of them could come in the form of certain species of mushrooms. id heard of "hallucinogens" in health class and dare, but as far as i knew "hallucinogens are drugs that make you see or hear things that aren't really there." so how did i get the knowledge i have now? by reading, by looking things up on my own, yes, but just as importantly by ASKING about things and by learning from my own and other people's experiences. i read up a LOT for a couple years everything i could get my hands on about drugs before i even smoked pot...but once i took the dive into actually using drugs, i realized for all my book knowledge, i didnt know shit! anyway, while i agree its irresponsible and even stupid to take drugs you know little to nothing about, i think its far MORE irresponsible and stupid to settle for ignorance while using those drugs. for the average clean person on the street, there is little reason to learn these specifics...but for someone who has decided to use drugs, i think admitting ignorance and asking for guidance one way or another is far less of a bad idea than never learning at all....
as for using drugs that you know little about.... the average acid user doesnt know FOR SURE that he is getting genuine LSD, and doesn't know what kind of dosage he's using. the average mushroom user doesnt know what species he has. the average ecstacy user has no clue whats really in his pill or in what amount. the average coffee drinker doesnt know that the coffee bean is the roasted, dried seed of a fruit called a coffee cherry which is actually sweet and edible, that coffee was first a food and LATER a beverage, or that caffeine can cause a condition known as caffeinism which can mimic some very serious mental illnesses. the average drinker has no clue how his booze is made or even that alcohol is among the VERY few drugs that works pretty much solely on the basis of poisoning its user, that it is "intoxication" in one of its truest forms. the average cigarette smoker doesnt know that there are other, more potent species of tobacco they could smoke, that their cigarettes usually contain stems mashed up together into a paper like sheet and cut up and mixed with the leaves, that cigarette smoke contains radioactive components, or that not all the bad stuff in the smoke is from chemical additives. does this make all the users of these drugs idiots? or does it just make them ignorant about something?
good point.. the user of a specific drug may not know what they are getting, but at the same time they should still understand what it is supposed to be in their "drug of choice". I agree, this is a nice website for learning about different psychoactives. However I believe that it is important to know a bit of the basics about what drug he/she is consuming. ie psilocybin being the active compound of mushrooms, NOT thc.
We ate them last night. WOW it was a great trip. The best I ever had was when I was living in Chicago. But these were pretty good. I only ate 1/2 a gram and that was more than enough. I typically eat around 2-3 grams myself but man I am glad I didn't this time. LOL
you can get a trip off of some strong species of mushrooms on half a gram. i've eaten 1.2 grams of cubes before and gotten pretty high, but not a trip. even with a strong species, .5g is NOT a strong dose by most people's standards, but then a hard trip is relative. i'm sure if it was half a gram and he "tripped" it was mostly just a really good buzz from some good mushrooms.
well for the same dosage of a drug depending on both physical differences in brain chemistry and in personality the effects on a sensitive person can be up to 10x compared to someone with a natural tolerance. For example 35g fresh shrooms is a mild high for me but a psychedelic experience for my friend. While I am almost as sensitive to acid as him, well he still trips a bit harder but not by much esp compared to my shroom tolerance.
actually i like the taste of fresh shrooms, just the same as non psychoactive mushrooms, very earthy and nice in their unique sort of way. The only time they taste bad is when you dry them out because that concentrates the normally delicate taste into 1/10 the volume. Not to mention that when they are fresh they are more potent because however gently you dry them some psilocin and baeocystin (sp?) break down in teh process. Oh yeah, and im lazy and cant be bothered to wait before eating them.
I've only had fresh shrooms but they taste preety bad, imo of course. I really want some again man....
