You know that part of a really great song where the singer hits "that note" or the guitarist plays "that riff" and it feels like it grabs your soul and stretches it out?

like on Avenged Sevenfold's song Second Heartbeat where the last time he sings the chorus and says "gone in the black of the night" he holds it and its got so much energy. The pitch of his voice goes up slightly at the end of the word "night". It grabs me by the soul

Helloween's song I Want Out has a good one where it gets all quiet and then it comes back in with "Leave me aloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooone"

    what are some of yours?

I posted this in random thoughts, but i really meant to post it here. sorry.

Iced Earth's 'Question of heaven' - when the emotional guitar solo merges into the even more emotional 'my spirit begins to rise' part.

God Dethroned's 'Firebreath' - when the melancholic guitar solo merges into frantic blast beats with wonderfull shrill black metal-ish riffage.

Emperor's 'Ye entrancempyrium' at the latter half with the frantic blast beat parts and the guitar / synthesiser combo when it goes like 'tun! tundundun! tundundun! tundundun!' (Emperor fans will know what I mean)

Nile's 'Masturbating the war god' When there's frantic blast beats and the atmosphere gets ever more magical and suddenly it bursts into ritual-like chanting with war drums and all.

For the record: yes I like frantic blast beats.

There's more which I'll add when I think of it. :)

godspeed you black emporer has the best climaxes, probably because their music lumbers on for awhile and builds up to that amazing crescendo......

He's Gone- Grateful Dead....at the line, "Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile!".

    I just get goosebumps...it's incredible

Mike Oldfield's Far Above the Clouds when the first bell hits. Best clymax ever.

The Dresden Dolls' 'Truce' - 'you won't sleep very tight, no hiding, no safe covers...'

My Dying Bride's 'The dreadful hours' when it builds up from a soft beginning and then goes to the 'we do not want you, nobody loves you' part.
