What happen to manners?

People just don't have them anymore. It drives me NUTS..
Common courtesy to your fellow man.
Please, thank you, when did these words get removed from the daily language?


I went to go get gas and this young kid was at the counter, he was trying to buy a pack of gum. He did not have enough money; he turned and asked if I had 15 cents. Yes, I do and it’s all yours. He takes it, pays the lady, and walks out the door. Not a thank you, thx, hand wave, head gesture, nothing.



People don't smile and say hello to each other these days. I say hi as I pass people and you would think I had two heads the way they look at me.

Man what the hell happen to this place?

I know, I know. I just hate it when you let people pull out in front of you in traffic and they don't wave thanks.

 

i mean, did you really expect the kid to say thanks?
manners have no effect on me.. some people use them others dont..doesnt really bother me...its people who are self-righteous that bother me...

 

i think it's rude when people shoot other people because of disputes over drugs and hookers and territory.

And the next time I say "Thank you" and instead of "You're welcome" the person says "y-uh huhhhhh" I'm gonna tazer the bastard.

 

I offered my arm to an elderly lady the other day, leaving the grocery store. It was icy out, and I didn't want her to fall. She looked at me like I was going to shoot her or something.

A little girl was crying in that same grocery store the week before. I knelt down to ask her what was wrong, where her parents were and the like. All of a sudden this woman comes running, scoops up her child and looks at me like I had done something wrong.

Guess you aren't allowed to be a good person in public anymore. No helping little old ladies get to their cars... no helping lost 4 yr olds find their mommies. Nope... better just ignore everything and be self-absorbed like everyone else.

 

Maybe manners have no effect on you because you have none of your own.

just because you have a preset series of rules that mean politeness to you does not mean someone can't have an alternate set that they feel means politeness to them

when politeness is blind tradition it's just ridiculous

example: Thank You, You're Welcome, well what exactly is the person welcome to? the thing that you did for them that they said thank you for?

I gave you a kidney, Thank you, You're welcome, Welcome to what? the kidney? you already gave it to them? if it's the other kidney that's a fairly ridiculous route, so come on, think about blind tradition before you follow it.....

 

He's right. Moral relativism rocks. Next time somebody does something nice for me, I'm gonna poke 'em in the eye. If they get upset, I'll just explain that it's my way of expressing grattitude. I'm not bound by their culteral norms and pointless traditions. I will not be oppressed!

Eh, people are rude and they think they're entitled. Seriously, those lawyer ads on american stations drive me crazy... "blah blah got me the money I DESERVED".... since when do we feel we're so entitled to everythign in the world?

Then again, some lady accosted me while I was trying to cross the street for bus tickets, but I didn't have any and I didn't want to give her my change (lunch monies)... I'd rather help out with time and effort than with money since I'm always ALWAYS short on money heh. c'est la vie
