It is a fool who believes the Internet as being 'true', and who's sole means of research is 'Google'. I don't have a personal interest in this because I have had a vasectomy. However, I do remember being startled when I read the October 1999 issue of Lancet which had this issue spelled out. I cannot, obviously, post a link to a hard copy magazine. And there isn't an online version of the complete article. I certainly won't recommend this method of birth control to my children, but what I read and posted is absolutely true. Unless a male has ejaculated recently and not urinated since then, there is no sperm in precum. Of course, out of date anecdotal evidence obtained via Google is always more reliable than respected hard-copy medical magazines, isn't it?
While it may or may not contain sperm, pre cum is a bodily fluid and I would be concerned that it might contain STDs.
MikeE, If the male had an STD, then the virus would be present in his precum. In any case, for monogamous STD-free couples, there are far more reliable methods of birth control than going half-way and finishing with a condom. I know just how much better everything feels for both partners when a condom isn't there to dull the sensations, and I understand the desire not to use a condom. For permanent STD-free couples, I really do recommend female birth control pills (I have long term experience of their reliability in my own relationship) or equivalent. And for non-monogamous or non-tested couples, condom useage is always recommended.
Planned parenthood is a huge orginization who simply posted information on the net. They are not some weird net site. You are the type of person on the net people are supposed to not believe. HEY!-Call a Planned parenthood clinic to get an answer on this
yeh well thanx for the abundance in advice, i just got tested & i am not pregnant nor do i have STDs, still having trouble choosing suitable birth control though, the pill made me get heaps of pimples & made me have migraines, maybe i should just keep trying till i find one that works, but as i am a bit of a party animal i doubt my ability to remember to take the pill at the same time everyday
Try the relatively-new and slightly more expensive polyurethane kind. You can find several kinds online or at specialty shops, but every Walmart I've looked for them in has carried the Trojan Ultra. They're lubricated with nonoxinol-9, which also kind of irritates me, but they're a hell of a lot better for me than latex. Another option you might look into is the Nuva Ring. Basically, it's a little flexible ring that you insert into your vagina, leave in for 3 weeks, remove for 1 week (comparable to the week of sugar pills you would take if using the pill), then insert a new one. You do have to be comfortable enuf with your body to fish it out of there, but it's not going to get lost up there or anything. I haven't tried it, but one of my friends highly recommends it (which is why I plan to try it next time I need to go see a gyno!). The great thing about it, compared to the pill, is that it has a much lower hormone dosage, since the hormones are absorbed locally instead of having to travel thru the digestive tract. So you're a LOT less likely to experience negative side effects. That said, keep in mind that hormonal bc does not protect against STDs. So unless you trust your bf to not cheat on you (possibly literally trust him with your life), you should always use a condom. Not saying you shouldn't trust him, just that you should think about how much you do trust him before making this decision.
You could, however, post the full citation. Most of the people here would be completely satisfied with just that much to show some authority, and those who still doubt your claims can go look it up themselves.
i'd say now matter what use some kind of protection. using contraceptives such as the pill or other types will be beneficial as you get the sensations without a condom but before doing so get checked out for STD's just a suggestion. Kitty_Kat
Personally if condoms are such an issue in love, (I wouldn't know ) why not simply look at more things for women, if pills do not work. for example, back in school we learned about something called a "coil" which was placed in the uterus where it blocked sperm, and also femdoms, and one alot of people do is have a procedure where the fallopean tubes are tied. I know men can have temporary versectamys but i'm not sure if the females equivalent can be temporary aswell, personally I'd hate the idea of not being able to have a child
No shit pre-go contains sperm, and just putting it right then is kinda the same effectiveness of pulliing out, duh
