Man, I've had some close calls lately, and I mean seriously, saved by the skin of your teeth close. A few months ago my friend and I were walking around my nauborhood at 1AM looking for something to do. Seeing a Cop around here was not very common, and they seldom drive around at this time of night, so we were pretty relaxed. We turn a corner and see a pair of headlights, and my friend jumps in the bushs before the light reachs us. This confused me, but then again, I hadn't noticed the blue/red/white lights on the top of the car. "Oh snap" I think, just now noticing them, as the car pulls up. A cop chick gets out and walks toward me. I notice my friend peaking though the bushs at me, but he quickly ducks down and moves away. The cop walks over to me, asking me why Im out so late. I give her the usual bullshit: Im bored, cant sleep, and theres no school tomarrow (all true). She laughs and does sort of a half-assed search of me, checking nowhere but my front pockets, then asks me to get in the car. "Sit in the front, theres no room in the back" she says. It is at this moment, that I notice two things: first, there is a dog sitting in the back seat, obviously a drug dog, which is barking at me. Not a good sign. Secondly, I have a joint in my back pocket. When combined with the first, also not a good sign. Nothing less then devine intervention could have got me home without incident. She dropped me off at my door and watched me go inside, then drove off. Dunno how she didn't smell it, the joint was leaking weed out all over my pocket, and had been there for atleast half a day. What is the closest you have ever been to getting caught with out actually getting in any trouble?
I once told a cop who stopped me and started searching my van where my $20 bag of weed was at, so he'd stop searching since I didn't want him to find the 1,000 qualudes I had hidden under the couch in back. It worked. I got a ticket for under an oz. of pot.
She only did a pat-seach, which is fully legal. Cops are allowed to frisk you at any time, they justify it as they are trying to make sure you don't have a weapon and try and kill them. If in the course of the pat down they feel a soft baggie or pipe then they are allowed to do a more thorough search. Moral of the story: put your drugs in a hard case (cigarette holder, altoids tin) or in a place they can't be felt. If a cop ever stops you, and starts a pat down, and then for no reason starts going through your pockets, and pulls out the altoids container with the trees in it, tell him/her you do not consent to any search of any kind and then SHUT THE FUCK UP IMMEDIATELY. odds are they'll then go through the tin, bust you, and take you to the station, ASK FOR A LAWYER! (they can't question you without a presence of a lawyer if you request one) Your lawyer will say that the only evidence against you is tin, which it was illegal for the cops to open, so you are free to go (Assuming you shut the fuck up and didn't say anything to incriminate yourself.)
No, the movies really portray an inacurate view of Cops. But they are supposed to follow procedure and if they do conduct an illegal search then whatever they find will get thrown out. Not all cops really respect the rules though and will find ways of beating the shit out of you, but if that happens the chances of going to jail are slim.
Actually you want to say you don't consent to any type of search as soon as they start going through your pockets, unless you are vocal it's called "implied consent", and means that whatever they find is legal. cops need a warrant or probable cause to search anything beyond arms reach and within plain sight.

At school I got searched and my weed was in my wallet. And the dean of students opened up my wallet and found it(with out my permision of course)? So is that illegal for cops to open?
They can open it for the ID and if they see something big sitting out they can from there. And in your case you are in school and usually either you signed something that says they can search you at any time or when you walk in the doors there is something a sticker that says something along the lines of "We can search you anytime we like" except in fancier words.
i got busted by the cops they found 2 pipes a bag of weed tequila and vodka and 2 knives. they took everything BUT the weed and 1 knife. didnt get charged with anything. thats the closest ive ever come. i did get grounded for a week but thats nothing man
