It's a toss up between "Purple Haze" and "Machine Gun". He goes off with the guitar on "Machine Gun". Whew, I might have to put that shit in my CD player right now.

my favorite all time hendrix song is his rendition of the national anthem. i remember when he first played it people in america went bonkers, us hippies loved it, the conservative and red necks hated it. they wanted to kill him, i thought it was the best rendition i had ever heard, gave the national anthem some soul, which it still needs, it's so boring. jimi was so cool and ahead of his time, too bad his light burned out so fast and he was so young only 27 when he died.

I didn't even think about that. I remember when I first heard him play it on the woodstock movie, I was so stoned and just sat there for the duration of the song with a huge, very proud smile on my face. I remember how quiet the croud was and I could almost feel their pride coming through the television. AMAZING.
