I have been wondering if the psychotropic effects of salvia can be compared to mushrooms or your typical acid trip. (*not to say any trips are typical*) I know chemically they have no similar characteristics but I was wondering if it is the same kind of visuals or body high as one or the other or the best of both? (The visuals of acid and the body of mushrooms.) Are the expierences completley different or all pretty close?
I cannot vouch for acid. As for mushrooms, Salvia is VASTLY more intense and wild. Intense visuals on mushrooms are based more on the state of what you're seeing (so I experienced at least) while intense Salvia visuals are less "seen" and more "felt." It's very hard to describe, but it's almost like your senses are all combined into one. Thus ... you feel what you see, you feel what you hear, and you see what you feel, and so forth. It's hard to distinguish. As for Salvia ... there isn't exactly a body high. Maybe an afterglow effect, if that's you what mean ... and that might be comparable, in some way.
So they are similar to a degree. I really appreciate your honesty and not giving some B.S. awnser that most people would have done. I feel alot more confident in trying it knowing what it is and is not similar to. (Although for scientific reasons masked by insanity I would smoke it anyway....now I just feel more comfortable doing it.) This all sounds like a very mind expanding expierence and other than letting go is there anything else recomended. thank you for your time and response.
I am of the opinion that it is all quite simmilar, however, the ramp of onset with salvia is incredibly fast, and the duration of peak very short (5 mins). the curve of return is smooth and continues subtly for 3 days. salvia seems to affect more of the brain while LSD and mushrooms are more invovled with serotonergic pathways only, and those connect to pleasure centers. salvia includes those but goes beyond. besides visual auditory and pleasurable somatosensory, there are also additional somatosensory enhancements and tracers that are unpleasant and confusing (such as gravity effect) and there are some additional memory or imagination tracers that let you believe you are either in a separate world or a beloved past moment. i am using "tracers" to suggest trails or lingering residue of experienced moments. with the short kamikaze intensity you could say it is very different subjectively it jerks you deeply into another mental state and plops you back "here" in a very short time. few manly men return for that treatment. ergo it is a shamanic experience.
thank you. all of this has been very helpfull and much appreciated. I have grown so accustomed to frying and trying to touch different areas of the mind and logging the effects as well as noting some of the visual and auditory responses of myself and other individuals. I don't know how to describe what I am looking for in the results other than self understanding. How powerfull is your mind and are all of those thoughts yours. I once found myself telling an ignorant man this...... "big dumb animal, you know starfish have no sort of membrane resembling any vast network of electronic pulses or waveforms to function simple involluntary task let alone any of the voleentary ones, and yet it still has the primal insticts to gather food, reproduce and regrow lost appendages.....what can you do?" I have no Idea where that came from. I was frying at the time and a mouthfull like that coming out of the mouth of a kid that failed science sparked forever the ongoing search for....I guess you would call it super intellegence. To be able to access the different reseces' of your brain and no either no boundries or true absolute boundries. Well anyway enough dumb theories and thank you.
I've done a lot of shrooms and also some acid, but I don't see the similarity with salvia except for the feeling of being in a higher mode of conciousness. While shrooms and acid can make you feel like you've come home to the real world, salvia always makes me feel wide awake in a hyper-real state of reality. Normal reality seems like only a dream. To me shrooms and acid feel like emotion, feelings and universal love, while salvia feels like logic, reason, clarity and cold, hard reality. N2O has more similarities with salvia than shrooms and acid have.
