I just ordered 250mg of 2c-i. But have no scale as of yet. Was wondering what you guys use to weigh out your doses? I figure that a 0.001gram accurate scale would be ideal, but it's far out of my price range. I found some 0.01gram accurate scales on eBay really cheap (around 30$ after shipping) and don't quite trust that they will be that accurate. Suggestions? Reccomendations?
Scales readable to 1-3 mg. are available new for about 60-120 USD. A search of auction sites may be able to locate an older (but still accurate) milligram or sub-milligram balance for even less. Gem scales, gun powder load scales, old scientific balances, and even older but functional pharmacy scales can all be found with accuracies at, near, or better than 1 milligram. That being said… if one is not willing to invest in a scale at or very near milligram accuracy; they should not be looking for any research chemicals. If one can afford any of the research chemicals they can afford a decent or better scale. If they won’t buy a scale equal to the challenge it shows they do not have sufficient money or seriousness to research any of these chemicals... and hence should leave them alone. I B
Well damned, I'm usually pretty good at finding things via search engine myself... But could you find me one? Honestly, the only scale I could find on ebay that are that accurate were upwards of 300USD...
Well after tweaking my search string I found a used 0.001g accurate scale for around 120$ before taxes... A little more than I was wanting to spend, but one can't really put a price tag on safety ... But I'm still curious, how do other forum members go about measuring their dose? I can't imagine everybody having access to a scale this accurate? Eyeballing? Liquid measure?
liquid measure can work respectably in most cases, but often your order may come to you as being as much as 50 or 100mg below or above what you ordered. its not recommended except for convenience, and for it to be even a little bit safe you need to KNOW the starting mass of your substance, and that requires a balance.
Look around at eBay. I bought my scale there last year. O.K., it´s from the seventies, but I checked it with a weight set - it was very accurate. Its accuracy is 50ugs (!) and I´ve paid less than US$ 70 (incl. shipping).
www.americanweigh.com There is an mg scale that can read up to 10 grams, and is +- 1 mg accurate I believe.... I thought everyone used that one because it's so cheap, they're on ebay sometimes too.
I have 2 questions: Is it advisable to get a 0,01 g precise scale, and like measure 100 mg and then use liquid measure? Does anyone know if these scales are reliable:
DUDE!!! Exact one I was talking about from american weigh. Seen the same thing with other scales, they must get the scales all from one factory and each company slaps its own name on it... Shit works excellent, unless of course a sonofabitch cat decides to throw it off of a 6 foot-high shelf... well it still works I just need to have a ten gram weight on it at all times... odd...
Gah - I didn't even look at the markings on the scale picture. I could have sworn that I had seen that scale on ebay advertised as 0.01 Accurate
There are probably different models that look similar, but I had that exact same one mg accurate from americanweigh. They're really affordable IMO.
2cesarewild, I appreciate you giving your opinions on this scale. It can be purchased for about 67 dollars here. I just want to make sure that you think this scale to be accurate enough? I mean, how can a 67 dollar scale do the job I would normally have to pay to buy a 200 dollar scale for? I'm skeptical about paying such a small amount for this thing. Does anybody else have any opinions on this scale?
I got mine for like 80 bucks dude, IDK why they're so cheap in comparison to other mg scales. They work fine. I think some other people here have that one too. Only problem I ever had like I said was with that fuckin cat.. anyways, yea dude I honeslty don't know why they are so cheap but they def work accurately.
Probably not so great for measuring something like 5 mg. outright… probably pretty decent for measuring something like 20 mg. outright… probably exceptional for measuring something around 50-100 mg. which is then used for volumetric reduction. Or so one would guess… I B
Then it'd be pointless to get, it works fine man SWIM has used it countless times at levels lower than 20 mg's.
It is probably a pretty accurate scale, but many of the scales that are readable to .001 g can ‘jump around’ a few mg. in the low range, so measuring something below 10 mg. will probably be a bit dicier a proposition (i.e. when measuring 5 mg., +/- 2 mg. can be a big difference… when measuring around 15+ mg. no so big a deal comparatively). All that one was trying to point out… and again this is just one’s guesswork. I B
